New Year, New Benefits
Welcome to a bright new year! There's something about starting over fresh that makes most of us stop and re-examine our lives. New Year's resolutions aside, we take this time to improve certain things about ourselves; diet, exercise, and smoking cessation are on the top of the list. Other considerations - a better or more rewarding job, higher education or spiritual growth, for example - are on our minds, too.

We'd like to pause here to remind you of one of the most important assets in your life; your health, and the health of your spouse and children.
Did you know?

The bacteria in your mouth has been linked to heart disease, heart attack, stroke, low infant birth weight, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and a host of other health-related issues. Obviously, it's also the number-one reason for tooth loss. Because we're armed with this information, cleaning and caring for your mouth has become an even more important focus of preventive medicine. As Benjamin Franklin once said, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Taking care of and maintaining your teeth is one sure way to stay healthier and save money in the months and years to come; fixing your teeth is always more expensive than brushing, flossing and cleaning them!

Every year in January, your dental benefit plan's annual payout rolls over. This means, the dollar amount that your plan will pay is set back to its highest level. So, if your plan allows $1000 per year in benefits, you'll have a fresh $1000 in your account, waiting to be used beginning January 1st. This money disappears on December 31st if you don't use it. It doesn't accrue like the minutes on your cell phone; it is simply lost.

Because the health of your mouth is linked so closely to your overall health, we hope you'll take advantage of your renewed dental benefits and have your teeth cleaned twice in 2010, or take care of restorative work that you've put off. Check out your insurance benefit and let us know if there have been any changes. And, call us today to start your healthy, happy 2010 in the best way possible - with a beautiful, clean and healthy smile!

Sincerely,
