Want a recipe for caramel corn? Just GoogleŽ it. Need some help dealing with a problem child? Check Google. Need to know the answer to y = log x   (If y = 10, then what is x)?  Ask Google. Want to see what your house looks like from outer space? Google 'Earth'. It seems that if there is  a question out there, Google has the answer.

Yet, there are some questions that even Google can't fully answer. Like, 'why does God allow hunger, or evil, to seemingly prevail?' Google 'the meaning of life' and you will find some opinions, but that is all; no definitive answers. Where is God? Does hell really exist, and does a good God intend to send people there...forever? Where does faith come from, and what about those who die never hearing of Jesus?

Some answers are only found in the Bible and others are left for eternity to answer. Beginning Sunday, September 26, I am going to begin a three-part series entitled, "Questions Even Google Can't Answer." I won't be able to cover every tough question in three weeks, but I will address some of the questions we all share

The reason I am writing about this is to inform you of a special Sunday service we are preparing to kick off the series. I'm calling it E1B1 Sunday; short for "each one brings one." I'm asking every person at Zion to invite and bring one person with them to Sunday service. That person should be someone you know who is not currently connected to a local church. They may go to church on Christmas and Easter, but beyond that they are un-churched. In addition to a great time together worshipping and learning from God's Word, we will have some special gifts for the guests you bring.

Then, the week following our E1B1 Sunday, my teaching will center on answering your questions. It will be your and your guest's opportunity to ask about the Bible or God's answer to life's questions. This will be done live. You can text (or email) your question during the service and I will do my best to answer it. (No math problems, please).

I think this will be a great opportunity to engage our un-churched friends. Who do you know that you can invite? Who do you know that needs to hear of God's answers to life's greatest questions? Who do you know that needs to engage the eternal love of God?

Invite them to be with you on Sunday, September 26!

NAME CHANGE

By now most of you know that we are in the process of changing our name from Zion. I have been asked a few times about the names coming in and if there was one chosen yet. I wanted to explain to you the process that we are going through for the name change.

We are taking all the names that have come in (over 200) and have formed a committee to sort through and evaluate them. This committee is made up of two Elders, one Staff person and five people from the congregation. They will meet and go through all the names, and will then submit a list of five names to the Elders and Staff. At that point, the Elders and Staff will go through the five names and reduce the list to two names. We will then have a congregational meeting and YOU will vote on which name you prefer. Our goal is to have the name chosen by you in October. I will then start the process to change our name on all legal paperwork and we hope to launch the new name to the public on January 1, 2011.

Hopefully, this will help you understand the process a little better. Please feel free to contact one of the Elders or Staff with any questions you may have.

We just finished a new series in Flip kids where we talked about 'the family' and what we can do to take care of our familes. We approached this subject using the example of a car garage.

In many ways, families are a lot like cars. They need various different parts in order to run smoothly, and the right things have to be put into them so they will continue to function properly. When your car breaks down, you take it to someone (a mechanic) who knows what to do to fix the problem. We should take care of our families the same way we would take care of our cars.

Your children learned how to handle conflict in the family in the lesson we call "Family Feud." Another lesson, "When the Family Breaks Down,"  helpped them cope with the pain of divorce.

In "Meet the Parents," children discovered how they can help influence their parents' attitudes by loving, honoring and obeying them. Finally, in "Where's Dad?" they discovered the amazing truth about how we all have the same loving Heavenly Father. Even if we don't have a dad living at home, we can rest assured that we always have a Heavenly Father who will never leave us.

Every week your children brought home a devotional and family activity. Thank you for  partnering with us by helpping them complete and fill out the activities; it benefited your family as a whole.

Week 1 Power Verse: "Do your part to live in peace with everyone, as much as possible." Romans 12:18
Big Idea: "No Matter How You've Done Me Wrong, I Know We Can Get Along."

Week 2 Power Verse"Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you." Psalm 55:22
Big Idea: "When Things Go Wrong and I Don't Know What to Do, God Will Always See Me Through!"

Week 3 Power Verse: "Children, obey your parents...for this is the right thing to do." Ephesians 6:1
Big Idea: "What My Parents Will Be Is Up To Me!"

Week 4 Power Verse: "For I will not leave you...I will not fail you or abandon you." Joshua 1:5
Big Idea: "God the Father Will Never Fail!"

NYC MISSIONS TRIP
THE NEED = Our Opportunity
-          Each year 100,000 New Yorkers experience homelessness, and each night, over 38,000 homeless individuals sleep in the NYC shelter system.  As a result the need for food, shelter, clothing and other resources is vast.  This year, Zion Church is taking part in the relief.  Partnering with NYSUM, New York School of Urban Ministry, Zion Church will be participating in Operation Drumstick, a ministry that enables Christians to give of themselves during the holiday season.  We will be serving hot thanksgiving meals to hundreds of needy families as well as distribute blankets, toiletry packets and bibles.   It'll be an amazing opportunity to give to those less fortunate and share the message of Jesus Christ.  Our last day in New York will be touring the city!  Sign up today to reserve your spot.  November 12-16

NIGHT OF WORSHIP
-          Don't miss our next quarterly Night of Worship, Wednesday, September 22nd.  With the craziness life can bring, set aside an evening to focus all your attention on our Creator.  Childcare provided.

SOUND BOOTH RENOVATIONS
-          Exciting news!  Zion Church has undergone significant sound reconstruction.  You've probably noticed the new and improved sound booth.  Along with our new sound room, a professional team of individuals who specialize in church sound have reconfigured much of our current system and provided additional equipment.  The hanging of our speakers has allowed for even sound throughout our sanctuary and has eliminated the "dead spots", those areas where sound was not passing.  Along with that, we've received new amplifiers, sub woofers, and professional equalization.   All of these improvements have come together to create a huge improvement in the sound of our church sanctuary.

You may assume that hunger is a global problem, but there are people in our own community who don't get enough to eat.  It may be the elderly couple next door to you who are no longer able to shop for groceries, or the single mother whose food dollars don't stretch as far as they used to, or a family whose wage-earner has been laid off.  In today's economy, hunger, which the government calls "food insecurity," is the invisible problem facing many people, even some that you may know.

Zion's Food Pantry is doing a great job to help. On Sunday, August 29, a group from Zion took the opportunity to answer Christ's call to "feed the hungry" and share God's love by serving lunch at the Daily Bread in Melbourne.  As Mother Teresa said, "If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one."  For more information on how you can help, contact Joyce Henderson.

Alas, summer is over! The 'peeps' are back in school. Moms can come up for air, while Grandmas and Aunties, who have been on call, can have a reprieve. It's a time when we all can get renewed strength and enjoy some well-deserved grown-up time. At Zion, we recognize the needs of women; therefore, we have resumed our classes and have added some others.

Cut Ups! Card and Scrapbook Making is continuing the 3rd Friday of every month. You can come unwind with the ladies for an evening of relaxation. Do you prefer to be energized in the morning or de-stressed in the evening?  Be Alive! Praise ˇ Health ˇ Fitness is resuming its Saturday morning class here at the church. There will also be a class held at the church on Tuesday evenings. During the summer, women met on Friday mornings to walk across the MelbourneCausewayBridge. We are continuing that every other week and are adding a zero fat treat at the end! It's going to be a Woman to Woman study group held at Front Street Park.

Woman to Woman is our latest addition to Connect Groups, and will provide excellent ways for women to connect and grow together throughout the week. Biblically-based books are used (otherwise known as topical books) to facilitate growth in our lives.

You may be wondering: "Are Woman to Woman groups Life Groups or are they Growth Groups?" The answer is both! There is a misnomer about the nature of both types of groups. Its premise is that Life Groups are not biblical studies, and that Growth Groups are not support groups. What is actually true is that within each, there is a wonderful blend of both growth and support. By nature, women are nurturers, and growth happens best in a nurturing environment. Woman to Woman groups are able to meet the needs of a broad range of women, so there is no longer a need for distinction. However, there is for clarity. That is why we are now giving a detailed description of all of our studies in the lobby during sign-up times. This way, you can decide what the best fit is for you.

God is a creative and faithful Father. At Zion, we are so pleased that Connect Groups can be a part of His provision in your life. Consider joining one today!

For more information on all Connect Groups, check out our website at www.ziononline.com, or pick up a Connect Group Brochure 'in the lobby today'.

Financial Update
Mary Koob

This year the Elders have set an Annual budget of $507,930.00.  After utilizing interest income from our savings, the weekly need for this fiscal year is $9,537.12.  This is a faith step on our part.  We cut $61,270 out of last year's budget.  We have trimmed everything from office supplies to outreach; advertising to worship.  I believe that God is going to supply over and above our $9,538 weekly need.  We need to see an increase of $900 a week over the current tithe giving.  What I am specifically praying for is for people who are nervous or unsure about tithing.  I am praying for them to step out in faith and see what God will do.  I believe that God is going to bless them so that they can increase their giving $1,000 for this coming year.  If 50% of those who are not currently tithing gave an additional $1,000 for the year, we would exceed last year's budget of $569,200. This money would allow us to impact the community with outreach, improvements on the existing facility, improve the sound quality in the sanctuary even more, create & furnish a youth space that does not exist currently and so much more.  The reason that I am specifically praying this was is because I have seen what God can do when you honor His first with your finances.
