Letters of Intent: Why use them?
Letters of intent and related documents are used in veterinary business negotiations, more commonly for employment contracts and practice acquisitions, to put preliminary terms into writing. They are useful planning documents and focus the parties on discussing the salient terms of the transaction. Articulating the necessary ingredients of the business arrangement early in the negotiations, helps ensure that the parties and their advisors pursue the details of a transaction that is likely to being consummated.

Volunteers and Trainees/Interns within your Practice Minimizing Risk to your Practice
Summer is upon us and usually this is the time of year that you get those requests from individuals who want to volunteer at your Practice. But before you say yes to the requests as you are thinking "Great, how can I use all of this 'free' help", you need to know and understand the guidelines that the Fair Labor Standards Act ("FLSA") presents, defining volunteers and trainees/interns. VBA Welcomes Our Newest Teammate
VBA would like to introduce the newest member of our team, Kellie Olah, Client Services Liaison. Kellie will assist us in providing the highest quality service to our clients. She will be the "go to" person for all our clients and their primary point of contact, from helping them secure a consultation appointment to answering questions to helping them with anything else they may need. Kellie joins us from the Human Resource world where she headed a Human Resource Department and earned her bachelor's degree from Rutgers University. Like all of us at VBA, Kellie has a love for animals especially wildlife, and has volunteered for several years in assisting in rehabilitating hundreds of animals at a NJ Wildlife Rehabilitation Facility. Kellie is a firm believer using our strengths and talents to make a difference and is very active in supporting local charities and also her community. If you catch Kellie with some rare free time you will likely find her on the softball field where she is a third baseman for her recreation softball team. It's Not Good-Bye, It's See You Later
VBA is saying "see you later" to our teammate Susan Fielo. Susan had jumped on board VBA during a period of need while we searched for a permanent player. Susan will now be spending lots of time taking care of her family, including her animals. We will always say see you later to Susan because you never know when we will call her off the bench to provide additional assistance. Thank you Susan for all your hard work and time, we will miss you in the interim.
