Notes for the Second Half of the Week
(a word of encouragement to get you from Wednesday to Sunday!)

Last Sunday I preached a sermon about an image Jesus used during his ministry. Jesus said "How I longed to gather you together as a mother hen gathers her brood under her wing, but you were not willing!" I think this image is a powerful one. How true it is that Christ longs to gather us together that we might have safety and security in his presence. How true it is, as well, that we are often very unwilling to follow Christ. I encouraged you to read the passage again this week: Luke 13:31-35. I also encourage you to read the reflection from Barbara Brown Taylor that I quoted from. The entire reflection is worth reading and you can find it here.

May God Bless you in the second half of this week!

Communion Service and Breakfast 7:30 a.m. Wednesdays continue during Lent

Ask anyone who has ever attended the Wednesday morning lenten communion service and breakfast and they will tell you that the experience is powerful. It is in intimate service where communion is shared, the word of God is discussed in an informal setting, and a continental breakfast is shared afterword. It's worth the extra effort of getting here early! The next breakfast will be one week from today: Wednesday, March 10th at 7:30 a.m. Mark your calendar!  I know it's early, but it's worth it!
You Can Still Drop By! Lenten Study - 24 Hours that Changed the World
24hoursthatchangedtheworldThis year we are studying the book 24 Hours that Changed the World by Adam Hamilton for our lenten Study. This book is an in-depth look at the last 24 hours of Jesus' life on earth and takes the reader through the last supper, the trial of Jesus and his crucifixion. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on what Jesus' death means to them personally, and to the Christian faith .There are several small groups meeting to discuss this book, so don't let a busy schedule get in the way of your participation! You are always welcome to join a group even if you might miss a session or two. Sessions meet one time per week for five weeks and are an opportunity to gather in members' homes or at church in a small group setting.  Check the sign-up sheet in the main hallway at church to sign up, or, email Traci with times that you are available.

Please note: Even if you are unable to attend a study, we have extra copies of the book (cost is $18) as well as a devotional guide ($10) that you can use for personal reflection and study.

One thing I asked of the LORD,

that will I seek after:

to live in the house of the LORD

all the days of my life,

to behold the beauty of the LORD,

and to inquire in his temple.

Psalm 27:4
