Student Voices: Understanding Dyslexia Through Song
We almost missed fully appreciating Justin MacNeil's voice and talent. He sent us an essay as part of the AIM Center's Learning Journey Project describing how, as a college student with dyslexia, he uses a host of technology tools to help him succeed as a learner.
After his essay was accepted for publication on our web site, his professor wondered if we would be interested in hearing a song Justin had composed and recorded about growing up unable to read. It's posted along with his essay. Take a listen. We think you'll be impressed.
P.S. Justin's song was played at the recent meeting of the U.S. Department of Education's Advisory Commission on Accessible Instructional Materials in Post-Secondary Education for Students with Disabilities in Jacksonville, FL. Learn more about the Commission.

TA Tips
| Coming to the CSUN Conference? If so, please join the AIM and NIMAS Centers, the NIMAC, Bookshare, and RFB&D for a collaborative session on Friday, March 18th entitled, What the AIM and NIMAS-Related Projects Can Do for You: Supporting the Provision of Accessible Instructional Materials...
And, if you or anyone you know needs evidence of the importance of providing AIM to students who need them, listening to Justin's song (linked in the left column) is more convincing than any amount of "hard data" ever could be! Hope to see you in CA! - Joy
