Greetings!

The SBIF - Small Business Improvement Fund - is a City of Chicago TIF-based grant for building renovation.  Applicants can get grants of up to  $150,000, with up to 75% of their rehab costs rebated.  SBIF can fund interior and exterior permanent renovation projects to buildings in certain City of Chicago TIF districts. These are grants, not loans, and do not have to be repaid.  The applicant can own the building or be a tenant.
SBIF Interiors
MDT Before
MDT Architects, in the Wilson Yards SBIF/TIF gut rehabbed their old space and created a new storefront architecture office.  This is a good example of the interior work that SBIF can do, everything from drywall to plumbing, to electric work.  As long as it is permanent to the space, there is a lot of flexibility.MDT After

SBIF Exteriors Fun Inc Before
SBIF can do both interior and exterior work.  We can do tuckpointing, roofing, new electrical components, and almost any thing else thatFun After pertains to building renovation.  Fun Inc., in the Galewood/Armitage SBIF/TIF needed to replace an old leaking roof.  Their new roof is keeping them nice and dry.
