Now Showing ... Crumbs From the Table of Joy
In celebration of Black History Month, we are presenting Crumbs from the Table of Joy, a memory play written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage (author of Ruined which was recently produced at the Denver Center). Through the eyes of 17-year old Ernestine Crump we meet an African-American family from the Deep South that has moved to bustling Brooklyn in 1950.
After facing the death of their mother, they must also face significant changes in their lifestyle - a very progressive aunt, a new stepmother who happens to be white AND German a new culture, new friends, new expectations, their religious views, their social views and the changes that come simply with growing up.

Our Staged Reading Series Continues... |
Please join us Tuesday, February 7 at 7pm in our Studio Theatre for a staged reading of Blackbird by David Harrower. Directed by Laura Adducci, Blackbird is about a sexual relationship that transforms, cripples and paralyzes and renders the characters fully exposed.
What is completely stripped away, in a process as unavoidable as it is painful, is a full armor of defenses that a man and woman have assembled with watchful care in the 15 years since they last saw each other when Ray was around 40 and Una was 12. Labeled by society as "abuse" their affair plays out with an innocence that suggests "love".
Nevertheless, the consequences are shattering.
"Blackbird is theater at its most elemental: one man, one woman, and a head-to-head confrontation, about events long past, that occurs in real time. Its characters are not well spoken or even particularly insightful. What emerges as truth - which is less a matter of facts than of feeling - occurs despite themselves". - The New York Times
Not intended for young audiences. Admission is free for season subscribers. Just $5 for the general public. For more information, call 303-739-1970. |

Some Great News from a Former Little Fox...
...who participated in the Fox's Youth Theatre for many years. Carthage sophomore Mikaley Osley, of Centennial, Colo., was selected to compete in KCACTF's One Act Play Festival.
| |
Mikaley Osley |
Her play, The Ferris Five, is one of six plays chosen for the competition. It follows siblings as they move their oldest sister and her fiancé into their new apartment. It will be read at the festival by six Carthage students. Two of the six plays in the One-Act Play competition will be chosen for the KCACTF National Festival in April in Washington, D.C.
She is the youngest (and only female) playwright selected to be read. She is obviously very excited to be receiving this recognition "It's amazing to receive such recognition at my age for something that I want to make a career out of," Mikaley said. "Writing is a huge part of my life, and this is a wonderful opportunity to share my writing with others, one that I am grateful for and humbled by."
Congratulations, Mikaley!
