Great Grandpa Alphonse revealing the

secret ingredient for tasty pasties!

Greetings!

Thank you for allowing The Fox to visit Escanaba this one last time. These plays have been great for the company, even helping us find where we belong in the larger theatre community.

Also, these plays have helped me get to know more about my dad, his dad and the many generations of our Michigan ancestors before them.

So, thank you.

I've never been very good at explaining exactly what is so special about these plays, but JULIETTE WHITMAN said it just right in her recent column in Westword.

Educated, urban lady loves deer hunters, too.! (click to read Ms. Whitman's article).

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

A New Take on Gift Giving ...
"Psychological research suggests that, in the long run, experiences make people happier than possessions. That's in part because the initial joy of acquiring a new object, such as a new car, fades over time as people become accustomed to seeing it every day, experts said. Experiences, on the other hand, continue to provide happiness through memories long after the event occurred." - CNN Health

We have several ways you can give fun, unique experiences to your loved ones this holiday season so you can see the results for yourself.

We are offering gift certificates good for any remaining show in our 2011-2012 season for just $20 (normally $24) through December 18th.

Just stop by the box office when you're here to see Escanaba: 1922 or call Bobbie at 303-739-1970.

We'd also like to thank the vendors who participated in our Holiday Shopping Fair. They also offer great alternatives to traditional socks and sweaters at Christmastime (or any time). Check out their offerings and consider giving experiences, not stuff this year.

All 9-year old Ralphie Parker wants under the tree this Christmas is a genuine Red Ryder BB gun with a compass in the stock and this thing which tells time.  However, the consistent response to his determined pleas is "You'll shoot your eye out!"

PHAMALY presents

THE ELEPHANT MAN

by Bernard Pomerance

Tuppence only, step in and see! To live with his physical hideousness, incapacitating deformities and unremitting pain is trial enough, but to be exposed to the cruelly lacerating expressions of horror and disgust by all who behold him- is even more difficult to bear.

The Elephant Man, winner of numerous Tony Awards including Best Play, is based on the life of John Merrick, who lived in London during the latter part of the nineteenth century. Victim of rare skin and bone diseases and horribly deformed, he goes from the star freak attraction in traveling side shows to London society where he evolves from an object of pity to a witty favorite of the aristocracy and literati.

"A distinguished piece of work. At heart it addresses the simple issue of what it means to be human".  -- NY Daily News

The Elephant Man

(Sundays, Fridays and Saturdays)
at The Aurora Fox Arts Center, 9900 East Colfax Avenue

Hugo wrote the Sound Collector and the City of the Blue Moon. Hugo appeared as the ghost of Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol and, most recently, played multiple roles in Rashomon. Hugo also performs a variety of original stories inspired by African folk tales and legends as well as original stories about the African American Experience.

Hugo's work often inspires accolades like: "Oh my gosh, he was FABULOUS!!!  The kids were thanking me all day because they loved him so much.  I have a whole stack of thank you letters to send him... He really could be a comedian....does he ever perform as a comedian as well as a story teller professionally? " - Deb Breed, teacher at South Middle School.

We thinks he's pretty awesome, too!
