Greetings!
Several of the Carlson staff just returned from a very busy and exciting ConExpo-Con/AGG show in Las Vegas. We enjoyed meeting with those of you who were there and found the interest extremely high for machine control--Carlson Grade and Grade Supervisor, estimating and site prep--Carlson Takeoff, and also for the Carlson Surveyor+ GPS and

our new Supervisor handheld PC for both survey and construction professionals.
Spring is here, even though the weather might not be cooperating just yet, and that means the designing and building season is under way. We have lots of new developments here at Carlson to speed and ease your work. Our webinars will continue throughout the year, Carlson College members have scheduled training sessions, IntelliCAD7 is about to be released, and we're planning a summer release of our 2012 office products.
We look forward to working with you and meeting your needs during this highly productive season.
Sincerely,
Bruce Carlson, President

Carlson Point Cloud 2011
Carlson Software brings point cloud data to the world of CAD design and all can be viewed in 3D. Users can process up to 1 billion points with Carlson ease-of-use, quickly "clean the cloud:" to get to the "bare earth," and easily determine volumes to bring back into CAD.
Among the top new features in Carlson Point Cloud 2011 are the ability to:
Extract Bare Earth: Removes landscape, utilities and other non-surface features for a clean surface.
Drape Images: Select images from multiple formats to drape over meshes created from your point cloud.
Add annotation to your point cloud scene and export to PDF files to communicate with co-workers, supervisors & clients.
Carlson Point Cloud works with a wide variety of popular scanners and large point formats. To learn more, take the time to view this movie, download a demo or contact your local Carlson representative.
Carlson Civil 2011
The Edit Contours command in Carlson Civil now has the option to update the underlying triangulation surface.
| |
Before Edit Contours |
When this option is used, data points are added to the triangulation surface along the edited contour segment to make the triangulation surface match the contour line. To setup the contours for triangulation updates, use the Write Triangulation File option when creating the contours with the Triangulate & Contour command.

Nicholas Bugosh Honored for Pioneering Work
A 2011 New Mexico Earth Science Achievement Award was recently presented to Nicholas Bugosh, who developed the Carlson Natural Regrade software solution, for his "pioneering contributions to geomorphic reclamation.
Initially developed in New Mexico, geomorphic reclamation is the process of construction watersheds on disturbed lands that simulate the relatively stable topography that the erosive forces of nature would everntually form over a very long time.
"The fact that Mr. Bugosh's work was initially developed on the coal mines in northweatern New Mexico, and is now being adopted throughout the United States and the world, is of particular note and pride to New Mexicans," said Charles Thomas, Acting Division Director of the New Mexico Mining and Minerals Division. |
