Greetings!
This is just a short newsletter to keep you up-to-date with some of the news at Carlson. In spite of heat waves, oil spills, summer vacation time and all the rest that's going on in the world, we here at Carlson are still working away to improve our products or to develop new ones to meet your needs. Bruce Carlson, president and founder of Carlson Software.
 | Carlson Software has many partners in business, but the independent, privately owned, customer-centric company you've come to know and appreciate is here to stay. We offer the complete
suite of solutions, across the disciplines of data collection,
surveying, engineering design and drafting, mine planning and modeling,
construction estimation and machine control and our software solutions are not being phased out or taken over by other entities, just being constantly improved and enhanced for our customers' benefit. Please take the time to check out our upcoming webinars, information about the formation of Carlson EMEA, the training offerings from Carlson College members, news about IntelliCAD7 and more. We also look forward to seeing you in Louisville November 7 to 10 at the Carlson "Partnering You With the World" User Conference. Best regards, Bruce Carlson, President Carlson Software Inc. |

Updates Improve Speed and Function IntelliCAD7 in the Pipeline

As Carlson Software works on the many improvements and
upgrades for their Carlson 2011 office software release, they are also joining
with ITC members around the world to ready the IntelliCAD7® release.
The ITC, IntelliCAD Technology Consortium, is a nonprofit organization of CAD
software developers who develop applications for IntelliCAD, a computer-aided
design engine. Carlson Software includes IntelliCAD for free in its office
software solutions, which are also produced to run on AutoCAD®. Carlson
users can choose which CAD engine to run their software on - be it for
surveying, civil engineering, takeoff/estimating, mining and more.
"This is a revolutionary rather than evolutionary update to
the IntelliCAD engine," says Leonid Entov, assistant director of Software
Development for Carlson. "The entire engine has been revamped to operate
directly on underlying data structures, which means less data conversion,
resulting in faster opening and saving."
In addition, Entov notes that faster drawing methods have
been utilized, which will result in a significant performance increase on large
data sets for dynamic operations. Most notable editing updates to modernize
functionality include: - Object cycling for selection
-
More powerful grip editing
-
Non-rectangular viewports
-
Improved Explorer window
-
Properties dockable pane
-
Greatly improved plotting dialog
-
Additional printing features
For those working with other CAD software, IntelliCAD7 will
have improved display capabilities. For example: Civil 3D objects (up to Civil
3D 2009) will be able to be displayed and listed. IntelliCAD will support .dgn
and .pdf overlays and .dwg 2010 files will be able to be used directly without
conversion.

To Serve
Europe, Middle East and Africa
Markets Carlson
EMEA bv Opens in the Netherlands
A wholly owned subsidiary of Carlson Software, Carlson EMEA bv, was established last month in the Netherlands to
support and expand Carlson business in
Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Four industry experts have joined Jan
Bech, who is in the United Kingdom, and Jesus Latova, who works from Spain, to make up the Carlson
EMEA team. Bech has been handling Carlson's European and Canadian sales for
the past four years and is a specialist in Carlson desktop solutions and Latova
is the director of Data Collection Product Design for Carlson.
New EMEA team
members include Rob van Etten and Floris van den Hoeven, who both bring a high
level of technical support expertise and years of field experience. Van Etten
has a long track record as a GNSS hardware/software expert and van den Hoeven is
a specialist in optical survey solutions and software. Aart Bakker has extensive
experience with product development and international sales. He will work closely with Marcel
Goyvaerts, a senior in the survey industry for international marketing and sales management. They complete the
EMEA team.
"We see a
steadily growing market of Carlson software users in Europe and the Middle East," says Goyvaerts, who will be leading the operation.
"The interest in Carlson for its data collection, CAD-design software, and machine
control solutions has grown substantially over the past 10 years. It makes
sense to establish an office in Europe with
experts speaking the local language and knowing local market requirements.
Plus, customers will benefit with the eliminated time zone," adds Goyvaerts.
