New Year

AUSTRALIAN CLEAN COAL TECHNOLOGY EYEING CAMPBELL COUNTY

Diversifying our economy is one of CCEDC's main initiatives in the 5-year Economic Development Strategic Plan. Recruiting new industries that complement our existing mining industry is one of the OBJECTIVES to reach the goal to diversify and expand Campbell County's economy to stabilize the cycles of economic activity. On December 7th, CCEDC organized a major presentation with two senior executives of White Energy Company to a joint meeting of the Gillette City Council, Campbell County Commissioners, and members of the Wright Town Council.

CCEDC, with the Wyoming Business Council, has been working with White Energy Company, an Australian company based in Sydney, Australia, which has a process to upgrade high moisture, low value sub-bituminous and lignite coals through a process of dehydration and compaction. The resultant product is a dense, physically and chemically stable briquette with higher energy content and value which can be handled like normal coal.  White Energy Company is waiting for approval for the Air Quality Permit before the company can proceed with the construction of two demonstration plants in Campbell County.
