 | 17-Year-Old Drew Farr Makes An Impact Through Volunteerism

Drew Farr is a junior at Webb School of Knoxville. He is 17 years old and has been volunteering with Knoxville Habitat for Humanity to lead shed builds. His family is actively involved in Habitat and his father, Skip Farr (pictured at left with Drew), is a long-time board member and volunteer. Many Green & BluePrints readers may remember the story of Lucas, Drew's younger brother, who has contributed a portion of his allowance to Knoxville Habitat for Humanity in the past.

 | Calling All Women: Women Build Training Session Sept. 17

The blitz for the 2011 Women Build is rapidly approaching on October 1st. We are actively recruiting women to participate and have scheduled a training class for all interested people.
Lori Gano, the house leader for the Women Build, is planning a general construction class for Saturday September 17th, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The class will take place at the Habitat office beginning in the Construction/Heart & Soul classroom.

 | Thrift Store Partners with ETTAC to Provide Donated Medical Equipment
|
Our Thrift Store has entered into a partnership with the East Tennessee Technology Access Center (ETTAC) to provide donated medical equipment that comes into the Thrift Store.
ETTAC is a regional nonprofit agency that helps people with disabilities gain knowledge about and access to assistive technology devices. These devices help people with disabilities gain education and employment skills, perform activities of daily living, an lead more independent, productive lives. ETTAC's assistive technology equipment is used for assessment and training, and some devices may also be available for loan.
