 | Board Chair Details Priorities for Coming Year
|
Dear Habitat Supporters,
What an exciting year we have just been through with Knoxville Habitat for Humanity! We celebrated several milestones, including our 25th anniversary, the building of our 400th home, and the opening of our new ReStore location. Most importantly, we continued to give low-income families the opportunity for homeownership - all while moving them from unsafe or overcrowded living conditions. With all of the wonderful accomplishments during the past year, it might be easy for casual observers to assume the coming year to be anti-climactic. How wrong they would be! Because of our past successes, Knoxville Habitat for Humanity is poised to have a strong growth year.

 | From the Development Desk: Planned and Online Giving
|
I heard an interesting statistic not long ago: in the year 2000, there were 29 million people between the ages of 55 - 69; by the year 2015, there will be more than 61 million people who fall in that age range because the "baby boomer" generation (i.e., those born between 1946 and 1960) will comprise that entire sector of the population.
Upon reaching that age - or earlier, if we are prudent - each of us needs to give serious consideration to planning for the security of our families after we are gone. As part of that estate planning process, we have opportunities to also continue to support those missions we have supported in our lifetime.

 | Lunch Donations Requested for Saturday Volunteer Groups
|
|
Most everyone agrees that one of the best parts of being a Habitat for Humanity volunteer is the delicious lunches that Covenant Partners, volunteers and other supporters provide on the build sites each Saturday.
Knoxville Habitat for Humanity is in need for volunteers or groups of volunteers to provide meals to our Saturday work groups. Lunches are typically served for 14-60 people and include anything from a simple sack lunch to a hot, catered meal.
If you, your company, Sunday school class, or any other local group would like to provide a lunch for one of our Saturday work groups, please contact Trinity Edgar at 865-523-3539 x 108 or send her an email.
