Knoxville Habitat for Humanity Celebrates 25 Years
|

Knoxville Habitat for Humanity celebrated its 25th year of building
simple, decent and affordable houses in Knox County on Friday, August
27. Nearly 300 people came out to the new Northstar Church in West
Knoxville to honor the work done by Knoxville Habitat for Humanity and
its volunteers throughout the years. The evening started at 6 p.m. when guests began to arrive and took a
tour of the Knoxville Habitat for Humanity virtual "house", a set of 5
vignettes set up to show the past, present and future of the
organization. At each station, the guests had the opportunity to win a
door prize to fit the theme of each location. In the "kitchen,"
Whirlpool Corporation donated a Kitchen Aide stand mixer. In the "living
room," Bennett Galleries donated silver candlesticks. In the "den",
Advanced Office Systems donated a printer. For the "garden", Ironic
donated a beautiful planter. And for the "garage," The Home Depot

 | DIY Network Creates Stunning Video Celebrating KHFH's 25 Years
|
|
DIY Network, based here in Knoxville, produced a stunning video to celebrate our 25th anniversary.
It premiered at our anniversary gala on August 27.
Many of our volunteers and homeowners saw the video crew out on build sites during the spring and summer. Many hours of shooting and editing went into the project. DIY Network produced the video at no charge to Knoxville Habitat for Humanity. Special thanks to Robyn Ulrich, senior vice president of marketing at DIY Network who is also a KHFH board member, for making the video possible. And thank you to Sarah Seaton, with DIY Creative Services, who worked closely with Tantrum Pictures to produce the final piece. It's truly a work of art that we will be able to use in many ways beyond our 25th anniversary celebration.

 | Estate Planning: Now is the Time to Consider Your Options |
Last week, the family of Knoxville Habitat for
Humanity suddenly lost one of our newest volunteers, a delightful woman
named Linda Spencer. Linda's husband, Doug, has been a volunteer with
us for about a year as a budget tutor and electrical crew member. A
few months ago, Linda decided she would like to join him and become a
volunteer in our office on Friday. She was a very young 61 years old,
and in her all-too-brief time with us, Linda's smile and contagious
enthusiasm had become a bright spot for all of us on Fridays. She will
be greatly missed, and we send our deepest sympathies to her husband and
family for their sudden loss as they move through the coming weeks and
months.
