Emotions Run High
During 2010 Blitz Build Dedication |
Laughter and tears of joy played a big part of the dedication ceremony for the 2010 blitz build as the new homeowners, Covenant Partners, and crowd of volunteers stood together to celebrate the successful end to a weeklong build of 5 houses on Stanley Ave. in East Knoxville.
"For sure, it's impressive to build five houses in one week. It's a big accomplishment that involves many months of staff planning, the generosity of our Covenant Partners, and hundreds of volunteers who give of their time," said Kelle Shultz, president and CEO of Knoxville Habitat for Humanity. "But this blitz build is not really about the houses. It's about the families who will now call these houses home."

 | Estate Planning:
Structuring a Bequest to KHFH |
Over the past 25 years, much of the success of Knoxville Habitat for Humanity can be attributed to its dedicated volunteers, many of whom have retired from their careers and focused their "golden" years on building this charitable organization. Their commitment has been a true inspiration to the Board, the staff, and perhaps most importantly, those working to become homeowners. Our mission and ministry have been so critically important to this community over the past quarter century, and it is our intent - as we look at the next 25 years and beyond - to move toward securing the viability of the organization in perpetuity. An important factor in that effort will be generating an ever-growing restricted fund from those who include Knoxville Habitat for Humanity in their estate plans.
