Honeybee Talk - Adventures in Nature Saturday 7/7/2012 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Placer Nature Center Special Presentation 11:30 AM & 1:00 PM. Thomas Harper, PNC bee mentor, will talk about raising and caring for honeybees along with their interesting life cycle and colonial living. Every bee has a job! Learn what the bee dance means and view PNC's bees. As a beekeeper, Thomas will share his extensive experience and answer bee questions. Fun for all ages, whether you interested in learning about bee keeping or have a little one who is crazy about bugs! Lots of info for the grown-ups with fun bee waggle dance activities for the kids. $3/person; Placer Nature Center Members free Four-Legged Fur - Preschool Storytime with Nature Thursday 7/12/2012 11:15 AM - 11:45 AM at Granite Bay Library Fur and tracks, scat and bones- let's discover the local wildlife through puppets and stories. Outside we will look for animal signs, animal homes, play with tracks and ramp and roll like animals! Free! Made possible by Target. Prickly Tickly Bugs - Preschool Storytime with Nature Tuesday 7/17/2012 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM at Meadow Vista Library Warm up to bugs with story and rhyme to know where to find and how to see. Outside we'll sweep for bugs with nest and then look closely at all the shapes and sizes. Free! Made possible by Target. Flying Feathers - Preschool Storytime with Nature Wednesday 7/18/2012 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM at Applegate Library Through movement and story we will warm up to birds then go outside to spy on birds and look for bird signs. Robotics - Adventures in Nature Saturday 7/21/2012 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Placer Nature Center Heidi Buck and Alan Levezu from NorCAL Robotics will introduce the field of robotics. Come see the robots in action! Learn how to make a robot and how robotics relates to nature! Learn about robotic resources in our area. Free! Puppet Playtime - Adventures in Nature Saturday 7/28/2012 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Placer Nature Center Come play with Placer Nature Center's incredible assortment of puppets in their puppet theater. Bring your friends and create a show. Bring your lunch too and picnic afterwards. Have some creative fun in the shade of Placer Nature Center's picnic area. $2 material fee Astronomy & Stargazing Jul. 28, Saturday, 8:00pm-10:00 pm Special focus on Moon, Mars, Saturn, stars! Do you have an interest in astronomy? Feed your wonder and answer your questions about the heavens! Colfax astronomer Don Machholz, author and comet-hunter, will weave tales of the galaxies and explore the night sky with his telescopes.
