at
State Theater (downtown Auburn)

1,600 species of native California bees have a special evolutionary history with 6,000 different kinds of native flowering plants - they only emerge when the flowers are in bloom. Since most don't fit the stereotyped image of a bee (black-and-yellow-striped, living in a hive, and apt to sting) they are easily overlooked. Out of sight, out of mind they gently get on with foraging, and in doing so provide the vital ecosystem service of pollination. Learn about and explore the life cycle of these fascinating little creatures and the plants that depend on them.

Doors open at 7pm with complimentary, locally grown goodies from Foothill Farmer's Market growers. Lecture starts at 7:30pm.
