Sat., October 11, 2010
8:30am - 4:30pm
** Free!**
McBean park, 2560 3rd St., Lincoln, CA 95648

This free first annual Calling Back the Salmon Celebration at McBean Park in Lincoln from 8:30 to 4:00 will offer a full day of activities for people of all ages; including music, art, workshops, food and more! The Celebration begins at 8:30am with blessings and offerings for the salmon and the Auburn Ravine.

The Calling Back of the salmon is more than symbolic. Indigenous people have engaged in this practice for thousands of years. Over 200 species rely on Salmon. They bring the fertility of the ocean back to our watersheds. Salmon have returned to Auburn Ravine as long as anyone can remember. We are just realizing our part in this magical process.

SARSAS, which stands for Save Auburn Ravine Salmon and Steelhead, desires to promote student and community stream teams, salmon/steelhead and watershed stewards. Potential activities for these groups include: tree planting, monitoring water quality, monitoring plant survival, educational outreach, fish counts, and observing fish morphology and other aquatic life.
