Volunteer with Placer Nature Center!
We are so thankful for everyone who helped out in May!  The Roseville High Key Club helped at the Macy's Community Shopping Day allowing us to reach new people with information regarding Summer Camp and our free First 5 programs for children up to 5 years old. Taylor from Girl Scout Troop # 654 created plant markers in the Girl Scout Butterfly Garden for her high school senior project (they're really neat, we are encouraging everyone to make a date to come see them!).

We also wanted to say a special thank you to all of those who helped during our April events and opportunities; teachers Laura Barhydt and Nicole Laubach with their Chana High School students, Mary Hines, Janis Kelly, Julianna Wiseman, Girl Scout Troop 921, their parents and their leader Rachelle Johnson, Caludia Booth and her granddaughter Stephanie, Elizabeth Cutter, Richard Huntley, and Steve Davis!

In June we have a four different ways you can help out the nature center. Keep reading below to find out how!

If you see something you're interested in, all you have to do is reply to this email with your name, email, phone number, and what you want to help with and we will contact you to get you scheduled!

1) Help reach out to the community

What: We will be attending the Confluence Festival and a vendor fair at Roseville Whole Foods Market and could use some help in our booth. We will have lots of fun activites to share with the families that will be dropping by our booth, such as:
  •  Sand track box - make tracks in the sand with replicas of real animal and bird tracks.
  • Microslide viewers - to see the smallest parts, like fur and feathers up close
  • Insect rubbing plates - kids will get to use crayons and special plates to create insect impressions and then color them in.
  • Mystery Box - reach in and see if you can guess what's in the box without looking!
  • And more!
You will be working alongside staff, docents and/or board members from Placer Nature Center who will be able to show you how the different activities work and help answer any questions.

*This event  is okay to volunteer together with your child!

Why: These events are very important to let the community know about Placer Nature Center's programs and educational fieldtrips. They help to increase membership which in turn ensures the nature center's future!
