Join the nationwide survey to better understand the Bumble Bee! Preliminary research suggest that bumble bee species are declining throughout the continent but much more research is needed. Learn more here...
 
The BEST Window Cleaner:
Save money and use safe ingredients for the environment! Make a great all-purpose window cleaner by combining 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon liquid soap or detergent, and 2 cups of water in a spray bottle. Shake to blend and spray on your windows!

This free festival is fun for the whole family with music, art, theater and more! Come visit Placer Nature Center's booth for Animal Tracks stamping, Color-Your-Own Lunch Bag and our traveling Touchy-Feely boxes! American River Confluence Festival
Sunday, June 14
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
American River Overlook Park on Pacific Ave., in Auburn (behind the Gold Country fairgrounds)

Great fun for all ages and free! Music, animals, a white dove release, jugglers, story-tellers, mountain bike race, canyon run, ecology hikes, gourmet and local food, recycled designs fashion show, dancers and more! Kids can paint a canoe or get their face painted or climb the rock wall! Visit Placer Nature Center's booth for starter worm kits, Color-Your-Own Lunch Bag and our traveling Touchy-Feely boxes! National Parks plan 3 free summer weekends!
June 20-21
July 18-19
August 15-16
 
Entrance fees at 147 national parks and monuments - including the Grand Canyon and Yosemite - will be waived on three weekends this summer (the nation's other 244 parks are already free). The waiver applies only to entrance fees and does not affect charges for camping, reservations, tours or concessions.
