Combermere Abbey Cottages scoop Heritage Award
At the inaugural Hudson's Heritage Awards celebrating 25 years of the UK's leading heritage reference book, Hudson's Historic Houses and Gardens, held in London last December, we were awarded Highly Commended in the Best Heritage Accommodation category.. so exciting and a great honour!  Library Restoration Update
We really have begun in earnest, a huge steel frame is supporting the fireplace while our trusted builders dismantle the stone front and uncover the hidden years of the house's history. We have exposed the second flue, the first flue was large enough to climb up and clean!
A large oak beam, substantially reduced by rot has been removed from above the lintel stones with no hope of repair, and in the hallway passage we have uncovered carved circular holes in the original medieval walls - and which remain miraculously intact. Watch out for the next instalment! We will shortly have a dedicated page on the website under Abbey section.
