Back to SchoolBack to school means back to school meals! Please help spread the word to families that their children might qualify for free or reduced-priced school meals.  You never know who might need a little extra help!

Do you know families who need help filling out an application or need additional help with food at home?   

The Nutrition Outreach and Education Program (NOEP) may be in your area to help.  NOEP provides free and confidential services, including pre-screenings and application assistance for government nutrition assistance programs. Contact your local NOEP today

Reimbursement Rates for Child Nutrition Programs Released

 

The federal government recently released the 2012-2013 income eligibility guidelines and reimbursement rates for child nutrition programs.   

 

Check out the guidelines and rates for all child nutrition programs from the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC).   

 

For information specific to New York:  

 

New York State Education Department: Eligibility for free and reduced-price school meals and  reimbursement rates.

 

New York State Department of Health: Eligibility for CACFP and reimbursement for day care centers or day care homes.  

 

Community Eligibility Option for Schools
New for school year 2012-2013, schools with a certain percentage of students directly certified for free school meals can serve universally free meals to all students.

At-Risk Afterschool Snack and Supper Program FAQ    

Hunger Solutions New York and New York State Afterschool Network teamed up to release frequently asked questions (FAQ) about the At-Risk Afterschool Snack and Supper Program.

The Summer Food Service Program in New York State: Report of Summer 2011

As summer vacation ends, the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) also comes to a close. This important program helps prevent hunger during the summer months for New York's most vulnerable children and teenagers.
