Dear Food Stamp Network Member,

We are pleased to share that the Nutrition Consortium of NYS is about to undergo a significant change. After an involved process, the Board of Directors recently voted to change the name of the organization. While our important mission to alleviate hunger for the residents of New York State will not be changing, our image will more accurately reflect our purpose and work.

We're in the final count down. At the end of this month, the Nutrition Consortium of New York State will change the organization's name to better reflect our mission. What will it be? Stay tuned to find out!

Last year over 180 NY Farmers Markets accepted food stamp benefits as payment for fresh, locally grown food items.  This season, even more markets will be joing this initiative launched by the Farmers Market Federation of NYS, the NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance and the NY Department of Agriculture and Markets.

To help increase awareness of this program among community based organizations and food stamp recipients a new website was created last year that provides all kinds of resources and tools.
