2013 iREAD Catalog
Have Book -- Will Travel!
| |
The PDF version of the 2013 iREAD catalog of promotional and incentive products is now available at www.ireadprogram.org. and the 2013 iREAD Resource Guide will be available for purchase at the upcoming ILA Annual Conference in Peoria.
To support your 2013 programming for Have Book -- Will Travel! we have added a wealth of original graphics. The posters and the wonderful spot art were created by illustrators Anna Dewdney, Terri Murphy, Samantha Schroeder, and Patrick Girouard. All of these graphics are included on the 2013 Program Resource Guide CD-ROM.
Over the past 30 years, iREAD has grown to become a leader of Summer Reading Program development by providing libraries, large and small, with all of the resources they need to promote, launch, and execute great Summer Reading Programs.
While library budgets tighten, program attendance continues to reach record highs, indicating that our mission -- to promote the lasting and well-documented benefits of summer reading -- is timelier than ever.
Thank you for supporting iREAD!

| Meet an Illinois Library Advocate
| Dennis Gregory is the director of the New Baden Library which serves a population of approximately 3,000 in southwest Illinois. House Bill 2823 was a proposal from a few municipalities including New Baden, Ill. to limit the taxing and budget power of elected library boards. It was an unprecedented attempt by one unit of local government to take over the authority of another. Passage of that bill could have adversely impacted municipal libraries throughout the state.
The library community reacted swiftly and effectively in persuading the sponsor to hold this legislation. Please click here to check out the Advocacy Committee's new Youtube Channel. Advocacy Committee Co-chair and Itasca Library Director, Betsy Adamowski, will briefly tell you about the handy Advocacy Toolkit. Just prior to the 2012 ILA Annual Conference, you'll be able to watch a short video about this New Baden Public Library story.
