| Terri Murphy, Youth Librarian and 2013 iREAD® Illustrator for Have Book-Will Travel! |
Besides being one of the illustrators for Have Book-Will Travel!, iREAD®'s 2013 theme, Terri Murphy is a youth librarian at Prospect Heights Public Library District. When she's not working at the library, Murphy is an illustrator for children's books and magazines, educational materials, music CDs, and outdoor murals. Her most recent books are Dance Y'all Dance (2010 Bright Sky Press), and One Day I Went Rambling (2012 Bright Sky Press), both authored by Kelly Bennett.
Murphy reports that she is in her second childhood, and there she plans to stay. Born to immigrant parents, she spent a lot of her time as a child observing people, their expressions, and the natural world as she learned the language. Her favorite toy was a pair of binoculars. Now she surrounds herself with sketches and paint and is once again immersed in another language. In addition to illustrating for children, she hosts traveling art workshops, is a nature photographer, and enjoys rambling and finding treasure in the ordinary.
Check out some of her illustrations and learn more about her workshops.
