| Trustees' Corner
by Peggy J. Danoff, Trustee Forum President
| The members of the Trustee Forum Executive Board are looking forward to a busy year for Trustee Education! On February 4, 2012 the winter training session will be held at the Oak Brook Marriott from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. And it looks like record attendance with approximately 180 attendees. The downstate training will be held on March 24, 2012 at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel and Conference Center with the same time schedule. The program will be the same for each location. This year we will be looking at different kinds of libraries, trustee competencies and trustee actions and policies. We will also have information on current legislation, advocacy, and Ethics Training. The Forum especially encourages Library Trustees to attend one of these workshops to continue their education in their role as Trustees. We also encourage Library Directors to fund their Trustees to attend these sessions.
The ILA Trustee Forum Trustee Day will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the ILA Annual Conference in Peoria. The program is shaping up nicely and we anticipate having a session with "Hands On" Technology training for Trustees.
The Trustee Forum Executive Board is always looking for new members. The Forum meets four times a year for our planning sessions. Our next meetings are as follows:
- May 19, 2012 - 10:00 a.m. at Bridgeview Public Library, Bridgeview
- August 25, 2012 - 10:00 a.m. at Fountaindale Public Library, Bolingbrook
Please join us and help us broaden our membership and participation in planning Trustee events for ILA!
