Did you know . . .
Lunch is included in your conference registration.  On Tuesday, October 18, join us for the first ILA Awards Luncheon.  Celebrate the achievements of your colleagues while lunching with friends.  On Wednesday, October 19, and Thursday, October 20, a light buffet luncheon will be served in the exhibit hall.

The InterContinental Hotel O'Hare is the Place to Stay
The 2011 Conference Program Committee has given a great deal of thought to the entire conference experience.  To that end, the InterContinental Hotel has been selected to host the ILA room block, as well as ALL evening conference events.

There are many advantages to staying at the conference hotel.  Conference attendees are always in the lobby and public spaces, so it's much easier to network.  In the morning, it's a quick walk or complimentary shuttle bus ride to the convention center.  Later in the day, it's just as quick to head back to your room for a break before the evening events that will be held in the hotel -- the Public Library Forum Reception, Illinois Authors' Dinner and Cocktail Hour, Stories & Spirits, Night Owl Book Discussion, Retirees Reception, and ComedySportz Dessert Reception.  You'll have a better conference experience in the conference hotel!

Reservations must be made by September 26, 2011.  Contact the hotel at (800) 341-7949, or register online at http://www.icohare.com.  Registration Code:  ILA.  The Single/Double/Triple/Quad rate is $150 per night.

The InterContinental Chicago O'Hare is more than just a hotel!  With its working art gallery on-site, all of the public space functions as an art museum.  The rotating exhibition offers a wide array of art by local and international artists alike.  ILA is pleased to offer a complimentary concierge-led art tour with champagne or sparkling juice to the first 75 attendees (25 per tour) to book their reservations at the hotel.  The forty-minute tour will be offered October 17, 18, and 19 at 5:30 p.m.  Eligible attendees will be contacted in September to schedule their tours.  Don't miss this opportunity.  Make your reservations today!

Future of Illinois Library Cooperation
Consultant to Join Project August 2011

The Galecia Group, a California-based consulting firm that has worked on delivery restructuring in California, Massachusetts, New York, and other locations was selected from respondents to the RFP to work with ILA on researching best practices and developing a plan to inform upcoming anticipated changes to statewide delivery.  Several ILA members attended a meeting on delivery issues sponsored by the Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA) held at the ALA Annual Conference in June, prior to making the consultant selection.

The proposed scope of work includes review of existing data and stakeholder interviews to be conducted in August/September, additional research into delivery models and best practices in both commercial and nonprofit sectors, integration of new information into Illinois requirements, with feedback and progress reports throughout the Fall of 2011.  A program will be presented at ILA Annual Conference on Tuesday, October 18, from 1:45-2:45 to present a progress report.
