| Advocacy: Talking Points for the Illinois General Assembly and Members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation | |
Spring is here and the second half of the Spring legislative session is in full swing. Despite the increase in the state income tax earlier this year, the state still faces significant fiscal challenges. Legislators will be looking for areas to target for additional cuts. This is the time for you to contact your elected representatives and let them know how important libraries are to your community.
ILA has prepared a fact sheet with the talking points and budget numbers supporting flat funding for the Illinois State Library. Last year, legislators made a 50 percent reduction in library grant funding and all state support given to libraries is in the form of grants. Please click here for a copy of this fact sheet.
ILA has also prepared a general fact sheet on selected library issues before the 97th Illinois General Assembly and the 112th U.S. Congress. Please click here for a copy of this fact sheet.
National Library Legislative Day will be Tuesday, 10 May 2011. To register, please click here. |
