| Don't Miss ILA's Inaugural Virtual
Conference Wednesday, 29 September 2010
The
Illinois Library Association will be holding
its first-ever virtual conference on Wednesday, 29 September. The
program will feature highlights from the 2010 ILA Annual Conference,
with a focus on partnerships and planning.
If you are unable to
attend this year's
conference, the virtual conference is a convenient and affordable way to
stay abreast of current trends and issues. Virtual sessions will be
recorded and available for viewing on your own schedule, making them a
valuable tool for ongoing professional development.
Attendees of
the 2010 ILA Annual Conference at
Navy Pier will be able to access the sessions free of charge, providing
additional value to your conference registration.

Complimentary exhibit passes are available on Wednesday, 29 September and Thursday, 30 September. To obtain a pass, please visit the ILA Registration Desk at Navy Pier. Exhibit passes cannot be used to attend conference sessions.

Wednesday, 29 September 12:30 - 7:00 p.m.
Thursday, 30 September 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Linger On Longer Attendees who obtain exhibits-only passes on Thursday,
30 September, are also invited to attend the Marketing Market at 2:00 p.m. and
Illinois Libraries - Loud and Proud at 3:00 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom. Don't miss
this inaugural celebration - you will be able to say, loud and proud, that you
were there!
Please note: exhibits are not open on Tuesday, 28 September.

Future of Illinois Library Cooperation (FILC) Draft Plan Adopted
|
Please click here to read the draft plan. As mentioned in the previous ILA E-News, this plan is being presented to our sister organizations --- Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois, Illinois Chapter of the Special Libraries Association, Illinois School Library Media Association, and the Library Administrator's Council of Northern Illinois, etc. --- throughout September. With the final presentation to the Illinois library community at the ILA Membership Meeting, Wednesday, September 29, 11:45-12:30, Grand Ballroom, Navy Pier.
After soliciting the opinions of all of these groups, the plan will be presented this Fall to Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White with specific recommendations for immediate action.

2011 iREAD Catalog Now Available on Web Site
| Click here to see all the fun incentives and resource for the 2011 summer reading program. The theme is A Midsummer's Knight Read with David Catrow as one of our featured illustrators. Catrow is the illustrator
of numerous notable books for children, including Kathryn Lasky's She's
Wearing a Dead Bird on Her Head!,
which was named a New York Times Best
Illustrated Book of the Year. He is currently writing and illustrating an
easy-reader series called MAX SPANIEL and
will be the guest speaker at this year's Youth Services Author Breakfast during
the 2010 ILA Annual Conference.

| Join Green @ Your Illinois Library | The project will kick off with a Friday, 22 October workshop at The Field Museum in Chicago. Please visit for more information and to apply to be part of this workshop. This ILA project is in conjunction with the Field Museum's Environment, Culture, and Conservation staff and funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, State Energy Office.
