Shovel-Ready Construction/Renovation Projects Data Collection Will Close Monday, 9 February
|
Three weeks ago (see January 13 ILA E-newsletter) ILA requested your help in collecting information on "shovel-ready" library construction/renovation projects. More than two hundred libraries responded. (Please click here of the list of libraries that have already completed the survey.)
ILA will soon be presenting this information to federal officials (Illinois Senators and and Representatives in the U.S. Congress) and to state officials (Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, and Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Director Jack Lavin) for consideration. It is not too late to submit this information. Please complete the short survey so we
can be prepared should funds be available through a federal or state economic stimulus package.

Consumer Product Safety Commission Announces One-Year Stay on
Implementation of Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act
|
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) released an announcement to the Federal Register staying implementation of the
Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) until February 10,
2010.
Libraries now have a little room to breathe, but this announcement
is not an end to this problem. Since we know children's books are safe,
libraries are still asking to be exempt from regulation under this law.
