HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

The holidays are in full swing, and we at the RCEF hope everyone has a great time celebrating their traditions for the season.

One tradition we especially love is the year-end, tax-deductible charitable donation. It's a great opportunity to save a little money while doing a lot of good.

You should be seeing an envelope from us soon in the mail urging you to "Wrap Up the Year with a Gift to the RCEF." We understand that money is tight for many of us, but we hope our loyal friends and supporters will find a way to remember our wonderful students on their giving list.

You can also make your gift online right now. The more the merrier - we also love writing thank you letters, another cherished tradition!

OUR SCHOOLS OUR TOWN MAGAZINE

The December issue of Our Schools Our Town magazine brings you a wealth of good reading plus news from our business advertisers.

This month's featured advertisers are:

  • Family-friendly Nutcracker presented by the Academy of American Ballet on December 2 at the Fox Theatre
  • Juventus Soccer Club try outs at Red Morton Park on December 3, 8:30 am until noon
  • Hometown Holidays and Fireworks Show in downtown Redwood City on December 3, 10 am until 8 pm.

Don't forget, you can view our monthly calendar and send in your free event listings at: www.ourschoolsourtown.com.

Help Wanted!

Our Schools Our Town is looking for help with advertising sales. This is a part-time, paid position, and a great opportunity to support our students! For more information, please contact Paul Maynes at paulmaynes@ourschoolsourtown.com.

GIVE AS YOU SHOP MERCHANTS

Business Christmas Tree Sales Benefit RCEF

Honey Bear Trees has a special all-inclusive commercial deal for businesses this season, which includes delivery and pickup after the holidays, a stand, and a CA-required fire proofing tag. Or you can just get the tree only at the lot at 955 Woodside Road in Redwood City.

Be sure to mention the Redwood City Education Foundation, and Honey Bear Trees will donate 15% to the RCEF to help support Outdoor Education.

Give as You Crunch!

Milagros Cantina

Do good while you snack at Milagros! Thanks to the generosity of Milagros Cantina, $1 of every bowl of chips sold goes to the RCEF!

These merchants also give us an automatic donation when you make a purchase:

Shop through our website at: Kepler's Books, and iTunes

Shop in person at: Kepler's Books and be sure to mention the RCEF. Bring your reusable shopping bags to Key Market.

New to our program is Yang Orthodontics. This practice donates $150 to the RCEF for each new patient who mentions us when they set up a new patient exam and start treatment.

MUSIC NEWS Save Our School Music

We are pleased to announce that thanks to the generosity of our many supporters, we were able to increase the number of weeks for Music for Learning from 18 to 24. This allows children to learn a greater repertoire while exploring each lesson more deeply. We thank our partners Music for Minors and their fabulous team of instructors for providing a solid and fun music experience for every 2nd through 5th grader in the district.

This December 13, middle school instrumental students get a chance to show us how great teachers Carol MacNamara, Esther Hollander, and Ken Rettburg are with their annual Winter Concerts. Kennedy students perform at Kennedy School  at 7 pm. McKinley and North Star students, with special guests from Clifford, perform December 13, at 6:30 pm in the MIT theater.

Please help us keep both of these important programs alive for our students!

RCEF WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBERS

We are thrilled to welcome two new members to our hard-working Board of Directors: Mary D'Apice and Judy Imperiale.

Interested in volunteering or joining a committee? Want to become an RCEF board member? Find out how!
