Welcome to the 2010/ 2011 School Year! |
|
WHOLE FOODS 5% DAY SUPPORTS MUSIC
September 14, 2010 Our local Whole Foods is dedicating proceeds from its 5% Day on September 14, 2010 to support the Save Our School Music campaign. This is a great opportunity to stock up and help our students at the same time. Be sure to stop by between 4 and 7 pm to pick up some BBQ for dinner and enjoy some musical entertainment by our own RCSD music students! |
RCEF NOW SUPPORTS MUSIC FROM GRADES 2 - 8!Thanks to the many dedicated volunteers of the Save Our School Music campaign, the RCEF is able to fund one full-time middle school music teacher for grades 6 to 8 in the 2010/11 school year.
As a result, the middle school Instrumental Music program now has 3 teachers: Vivian Euzent, who is based at Kennedy, and Carol MacNamara and Esther Hollander who share responsibility for Adelante, Clifford, Hoover, McKinley, North Star, Roy Cloud and Selby Lane schools.
In addition, the RCEF will fund the entire Music for Learning general music program for grades 2 through 5. This is the first year for 5th grade, and new curriculum has been developed by our Music for Minors partners to create a program that will encourage and prepare these students to continue with Instrumental Music in middle school. |

RCEF BOARD ADDS NEW MEMBER
We are pleased to announce that Erika Pretell has joined our Board of Directors. Erika has been a frequent volunteer with the RCEF in addition to being active at Orion School. At the same time, we are sad to see Walid Naja and Judie Boisvert Gutierrez depart. We will miss Walid and Judie very much and thank them for their years of service to our students.
There is still room for new members on the RCEF Board. You can make a real difference in the lives of our Redwood City school children, while working along side some of our community's most interesting and dedicated people!
