RUNNERS! GET READY FOR 4TH OF JULY FUN RUN!

We have already raised more than $68,000 toward our campaign to keep instrumental music in our schools next year.

Here are 4 ways you can help us reach the $100,000 we need:

  • Make a donation on-line at: rcef.org/music
  • Mail a check to: RCEF Music, PO Box 3046
    Redwood City, CA  94064
  • Join the 4th of July Fun Run - This 5k run through downtown Redwood City traditionally kicks off the annual 4th of July parade and festivities. Register for the run and collect pledges to help raise money for music by going to: www.rcef.org/funrun.
  • Buy raffle tickets to win a Tesla Test Drive and Factory Tour or help us sell them. Contact georgia@casajack.com for more information or see our flyer.

We thank the many parents and individuals who have volunteered and contributed to our campaign. We also thank our business partners including: Arguello Caterers, Fox Theatre, Audio Production Group, Tesla Motors, and Bigger Than Texas Films as well as the City of Redwood City and the Sequoia Union High School District for their help and support.

We especially thank the students of the North Star Junior Optimists Club and the 5th grade class of Trinity School for their generosity and commitment to music education.

We are once again seeking new members for the RCEF Board. We are an all-volunteer organization made up of parent and community leaders. We meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month, and request that our Board members also be available to participate in a fundraising, outreach, financial, communication, or other committee.

You can make a real difference in the lives of our Redwood City school children, while working along side some of our community's most interesting and hard-working people!

WELLNESS NEWS: RCSD RECEIVES GRANT

The Redwood City School District will receive $447,500 next year as part of the Sequoia Healthcare District's (SHD)Healthy Schools Initiative.

This amount will fund one full-time school nurse and other staff as well as restoring the Wellness Coordinator position which was funded by the RCEF, with support from Sequoia Hospital  Foundation and Kaiser Permanente, between 2006 and 2009. The RCEF has also provided funding to support the FitFun for Learning Program, developed during the Wellness Coordinator's tenure, and still used by k - 5th grade teachers to bring physical activity into the classroom during the school day.

We are pleased that the SHD has chosen to focus on the health of our children and look forward to working with the District next year.
