4 Golf Exercise Drills to Improve ScoringBy: J.L. Lewis Below are some great golf exercises and golf tips for beginners and golf pros alike. I have found these tips to be effective during practice.
1) Chipping Tip: Ten Finger Golf Grip Drill
Practice pitching and chipping with a ten finger grip. This allows for proper rotation of the golf club and promotes keeping the triangle formed at address throughout the swing. A ten finger grip will eliminate shots hit fat or thin.

Golf Green Tip of the Month Many golf courses around the world are becoming more "green." They are taking into consideration the environment and natural surroundings where their course is located in regards to the amount of pesticides and herbicides used on the land. Many courses are designed to keep the natural landscapes in tact as much as possible to allow for the native flora and fauna to remain thriving. Once the courses are built and these native landscapes are left untouched (except by the occasional flying golf ball) the local species flourish. Two examples of golf courses who have taken the extra step to become a Certified Audubon Sanctuary are Fazio Canyons at Barton Creek in Austin, Texas and the Sanctuary Golf Course at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Arizona. Ways you can encourage your local golf course to consider the surrounding native species: - Limit the use of synthetic chemicals on the golf course, and
- Designate areas around the course for the native wildlife to inhabit and live peacefully!

PGA TOUR Destination: SBS Championship Kapalua, Hawaii
The first stop on the PGA TOUR each year is in beautiful Hawaii for the SBS Championship. PGA TOUR winners from 2009 will be heading to Kapalua in Maui for this exciting event. The fantastic views and tropical windy weather provide for a great venue for the first event of the year.
The course is extremely hilly, and a lot of local knowledge is needed to be competitive, even though it is the smallest field of the year. Extreme wind conditions and strong grain on the greens combine to challenge golfers to hit shots they normally do not face. In the second round of the Mercedes Benz Championship in 2004, I was faced with these conditions on the twelfth hole of the Plantation Course at Kapalua, a 390 yard Par 4. I was tied for third coming into hole #12 and hit a sand wedge on the green...

Set Golf Goals to Reach Your Potential By: J.L. Lewis, PGA Golfer
The year of 2009 is winding down and the New Year
is upon us. This is the time for reflection upon the past year with the
attitude of learning from all past experiences and recognizing our
accomplishments. To progress in golf and life it is imperative to know
what you want to attain. The most effective method for goal achievement involves an approach that includes several aspects.
First, and most importantly each person must be honest
with themselves when setting their goals. A goal that is unreachable
can cause a loss of interest and a decline in confidence. A goal that
is easily attained can cause a loss of motivation and hinders striving
to reach your full potential. Finding the ideal goal will create a
strong intention for optimum achievement of the objective.
Once
you have the perfect objective in mind open your imagination to all the
possibilities of how to obtain the desired result. For example, if you
have the goal of improving your golf swing to shoot a certain score...

Q: Have you had a golf exercise routine for long?
A:
I played basketball, football and golf beginning at age six, and have
been working out using various programs for 45 years. I have settled
into a golf exercise and stretching program that provides strength,
stamina, and flexibility to all areas of the body.
Q: What do you find is important when designing a workout program?
A:
It is important to have variety and balance so that one area of the
body does not surpass other areas of the body in development. I have
learned from experience that I need to be careful not to overbuild my
pectoral muscles and shoulders which can...

Physical Routine Tip:
"Do
exercises to build up the gluteal muscles to increase speed in the golf
swing. Lie on the floor, knees up, feet
flat on the floor and lift the hips off the floor with the gluts contracted. Hold for one second. Do ten
to fifteen repetitions."
