August here in Missouri generally means one thing, and that is Hot, Humid Weather! The weather is not the only thing hot around here however, as the Mittler Bros. Machine & Tool has more great Features, TECH TIPS, and Monthly Specials for you this month!
July was another very busy month as we exhibited at EAA AirVenture 2009 in Oshkosh, WI and attended the Quarter Midget Eastern Grands in Huntsville, AL. We were very impressed with the amount of planes, campers, and people in general that made the show a rousing success. The EAA reported that attendance was up 12% over 2008 with approximately 578,000 people visiting the show this year! They also reported over 10,000 plus airplanes on the ground including over 2,500 showplanes!
Scroll down down to check out out our English Wheel which is this month's featured special. Norm has brought another great Tech Tip this month including an Outstanding Bead Roller Demonstration Video. Our product spotlight this month is our ACCU-LIGN Wheel Alignment System. The ACCU-LIGN is a revolutionary closed wheel alignment system that: solves suspension access problems, eliminates roll on pads and ramps, and improves alignment accuracy. Finally, we invite you to check out our Billet Crankshafts.

TECH TIPS by Norm Campeau |

Bead Roller Tips
One of the most common needs in metal working, is the need to add stiffening beads and ornamental patterns to metal panels. Another need is to edge off a panel. The best tool for this job is a Bead Roller. With this machine, you can do all of the above functions. The MITTLER BROS. machine has a few features which I think is a superior design. First off, their bead rolling machine is a truss design, which eliminates the flexing found in other machines that just utilize a square tube for their arms. If those arms move while you are working, the finished product will suffer. Secondly, the motors utilized in the MITTLER BROS. machines have the power to feed the metal through the dies smoothly. I have used and owned other machines that looked the same but just did not have the power to feed the material properly. Third, on this and any other machine it's what is inside that counts, MITTLER BROS. utilizes oillite bushings on all rotating points and heat treated gears which will give you a long service life on the machine. I for one learned the hard way and had a pretty machine with plastic bushings and cast gears that did not last. Lastly, MITTLER BROS. has an extensive availability of dies for many of the shapes you need made, and if you need a custom die made they can custom make them for you. They also have a very unique die set which can turn and finish the edge of a wheel well. There is a saying I once heard from an old farmer. "If you want good quality oats you have to pay a fair price,if you want it after its been through the horse that comes much cheaper". THE SAME IDEA APPLIES TO GOOD QUALITY MACHINERY.

A Few Things to Remember "It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the job it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot, it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that, you will have enough to pay for something better." John Ruskin, Author - Economist 1819-1900
The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of a cheap price is forgotten!
