Greetings!

Relationships and  Valentines Day

Making a plan or a small gesture to the important people in your life on Valentines Day is one small way to improve your relationships, doing it when it is not expected is priceless.

ADD people often don't think about how the gesture of a hand made card, note, poem or making dinner can say thank you for all you do and I value you.   You don't have to spend a lot of money or do the expected.  You are creative use your creativity to tell the people in your life you value them, love them and appreciate them.

You can make it is even more special if you do it today.  Showing your appreciation on a day that is not a holiday or special day makes it even more special.  Make a difference in your relationships today.  Take a moment and think about how you want to say thank you to those in your life.

Happy Valentines Day to all of you, may you find a way to express what is in your heart this day and everyday.

Are you in the job market job and need help from someone who understands you and your ADD gift?

There are a lot of people with and without ADHD who are searching for jobs these days and it is difficult to stay motivated for anyone but maybe more so for those with ADHD.

As a job searcher with ADD there are special challenges that some resources such as Job Work Force, outsourcing firms, and job support groups may not understand.  Having worked with people looking for jobs or careers changes I know how an ADD Coach can give you an advantage.

You might say I can't afford a coach right now.  Can you afford not to have a coach?  Did you know that expenses you incur while searching for a job are tax deductible on your 2009 taxes?

I help you by giving those
who have the gift of ADHD with the added support and structure that they need to go to interviews with confidence and to complete the applications and resumes in a timely manner.

As your coach I have experience helping design cover letters and, or an introductory document to share with perspective employers that showcases the strengths you will bring to the company.

I will work with you on your interview techniques, design answers to questions you might be asked in an interview and questions you want to ask of the interviewer.

I have worked with software designers, psychologists, librarians, IT people, marketing designers, college students and corporate operations people to obtain jobs.  I would love to help you.

If you do not have ADD and are unemployed I can also help you.

            360 Electrical Rotating Outlet

This month's featured item comes as we try to find places to plug in all those transformers we got with all the new electrical gadgets for the holidays.

However, there are times and places in my home office and son's room where we do not want to use a power strip.  Sometimes it is aesthetics and sometimes it is a matter of safety that drives our decision not to use a power strip.  Yet, we still want to plug two transformers into the outlets.  That is where the 360 Electrical Rotating Outlet has come in handy!

The outlet is inexpensive and practical! Try one and you will be back for more...maybe they should call it the "potato chip" outlet, because nobody can live with just one! see more

Fitness
Last month I shared the 6 minute office work out.  How is that working for you?  I do it most weekdays while I wait for my computer to boot up or while I am cooking dinner.  How are you doing?

If that form of exercise is not your cup of tea fine one that is.  If you live in a warmer area of the country than I do walking, or hiking would be a great one.  It gives you the green time that is needed by those with ADHD, Vitamin D time and relieves stress

Wisconsin is cold and snowy right now and so I hate to walk in the winter.  The cold and ice makes it kind of dangerous so other alternatives might be snowshoeing, cross country skiing, skating, hockey floor or ice.  How about ballroom dancing or just dancing.

Block out the time on your calendar. Find something and somebody to get you moving.  Your brain will love the adrenaline and dopamine pick me up. It will you sleep better, have more focus and energy.
Taxes a step at a time
Last month I started talking about tax preparation, this month let's put a plan in place:

If you give your self time you can break the task down into smaller pieces and smaller chunks of time to make it more tolerable (I was going to say fun).

You have already decided on your tax system for 2009 right? So what is the next step?  This might not be the order you want to put them in but this is how my mind goes about the task.

(If you file your own taxes skip step 1.  Read tax information to see if you qualify to file by phone or online.  If you qualify wait for your W-2 and 1099's and you are almost done)

1. Call accountant, CPA, HR Block or whomever you have do your taxes and set an appointment date.  Why do you want to start by setting the date? It gives you a goal and a due date before April 15th.  If you are like most ADDer's you will put off the things you do not like to do so if there is not a due date you will not even start the task.

2. Start finding your receipts for your 2008 taxes. Put a date on the calendar to have this part completed. Just find the receipts and old checkbook register along with bank statements, no more.

3.Create a file or place to put all tax information that will be coming in the mail in the next few weeks.

4. Put your 2008 tax forms in the same place you will keep you incoming tax documents.

5. Organize the tax receipts, and statements into income, expenses, and donations.  If you have a business do the same for the business.  Have a due date.

6. Take the separate receipts and put all heating bills together and total them, (this is why I like to use an Excel spread sheet to keep track of my information then I don't have to add it Excel does that for me) all the house maintenance bills together and total them ECT.  Once you are done with your receipts, income and donation totals take a break.

7. Enter totals into the tax organizer sent by the accountant, or if you do your own on to your tax forms.

8. Wait a day and recheck your figures and math.

9. Take your information to the tax preparer or sign your tax forms and put them in the mail. Don't forget to add your check if you owe money.

10.  Sit back and wait for your refund to arrive.

You might have more or less steps but at least this gets you thinking, planning and moving forward.
