22 days until Christmas!
Are you saying OH NO or have you been doing a little everyday and feeling like it is fairly under control?

Turning the Holiday vacation days into ADHD Joys

If you are in and ADHD household and the non-ADDer you read the title of the post and said, Yeah RIGHT!!
If you are the ADHD mom you also said, RIGHT!!

Well what if instead of looking at the negative side of ADHD and the Holidays if we looked at the positive side of ADHD and the Holidays, how would that change your perspective or your expectations?

My wish for each of you is that you create a new memory of this holiday that celebrates the gift you find in your ADHD and the positive things that it brings to the people you touch

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Extrovert or Introvert
Whether you are an extrovert (you get energy by being with people) or you are an introvert (you need alone time to get your energy back) we all need to take care of ourselves during this hectic month.

  • Get plenty of rest
  • Be realistic about what you can and cannot do
  • Don't try to do it all (share the chores)
  • Schedule me time or down time
  • Eat something before you go to a party (helps reduce the temptations)
  • Eat regular balanced meals
  • If you are the extrovert in the family be aware of the needs of your introverts (give them space and down time)
  • If you are the introvert create a signal with your extrovert to say I have had enough it is time to go (agree before you get to the event how long you want to stay)
  • Get your 5 proteins a day
  • Extroverts pay attention to the hosts so you do not over stay your welcome
  • Help each other with social cues
  • Remember to take your meds if you take them
  • Share your humor and your joy with those around you.

Budget Strategies for the New Year

Did you put some holiday gifts on your Credit Card?

If you used your credit card here are some tips for 2009

  • Start setting aside money now to have for the charge card bill due in January
  • Pay more than the minimum due on your bill when it arrives
  • Sell unwanted items on e-bay or Craig's list for extra money to pay bills
  • Return unwanted items and get credit
  • Start a small savings account now for next Christmas
