Curriculum & Instruction from our Assistant Principal
It is hard to believe that we have completed three weeks of the 2010-2011 school year. It is a joy to see our students displaying increasing leadership characteristics such as goal setting and personal responsibility. This week, as our inspirational leader, we are learning about Truitt Cathy, the founder of Chick fil A. He stated, "We must motivate ourselves to do our very best, and by our example lead others to do their best as well." Last week our students in Grades 1-5 completed Benchmark Testing. This pretest included LA, Reading and Math in Grades 1 and 2; and LA, Reading, Math, Social Studies and Science in Grades 3-5. These tests will provide teachers with valuable information to differentiate instruction. We are confident that an increased emphasis on differentiation and individuation of instruction will improve all of our students' achievement.

Calling all parents! WE NEED YOU! Join us for a Volunteer Round-up Breakfast. Tuesday August 31st @ 9 a.m. in the Jaguar Café Learn about all that the PTA does for your school and get involved.
Also, all Room Parents are encouraged to attend this meeting to learn expectations for the school year. You will receive your how-to guide and Teacher's favorites list.
JAGUAR JAMBOREE is Friday, October 22 from 5:30-8:30. We need your help!
Volunteers Needed: General - Help out the night of event, please sign up through room moms Committee - Help plan Jamboree events and activities. Specific Positions for the Jamboree: - Food Vendor Coordinator - Pumpkins- Coordinate class pumpkin decorating contest - Volunteer Coordinator
EARNING FOR LEARNING - Remember to start sending in BoxTops for Education, Campbell's, and Tyson's labels now to help raise money for the school. Instead of sending them in envelopes labeled for your teacher, children should put them in the collection boxes themselves - taking part in the "Girls vs. Boys - Who rules the school in collecting labels?" campaign. The "Girls" and "Boys" boxes are located in the front lobby of the school, along with a tracking poster that will showcase who is leading the promotion. On October 11, we will announce the winning gender and their special "dress up" prize (for October 15). So - send in those labels now and each day you have them through October 8. Thanks!
COMING SOON: Boosterthon Fun Run. This is our primary fundraiser this year - but is so much more than that. Kicking off with a pep rally on Wednesday, September 8 (the run is on Friday 9/17), our students will be able to help raise money for the PTA AND focus on fun, fitness, and character development. Please click on the following link to see more about the Fun Run [ http://boosterthoninfo.com/suwaneejaguars/] and look for information to come home next week.
