Dear Suwanee Families,
Thank you for your constant support of Suwanee Elementary and the investments you make in your child's life. We are grateful that we have such a supportive parent base that is willing to help in so many ways around our great school. We have a great opportunity once again to make a difference on our campus with this fall's PTA fundraiser, the Boosterthon Fun Run.
We will be kicking off the Boosterthon Fun Run and a Leader LAUNCH journey on September 8th. Please look for your child's "PLEDGE PACKET" and be sure to visit www.FunRun.com to see videos and other great resources that will explain this world-class program. The Boosterthon Team serves Gwinnett County and our local community through GSLT (Gwinnet Student Leadership Team) program and helps with various others like the Chick-Fil-a Leadercast, The National Leadership Forum and many more. (380 schools in 14 states will host a Boosterthon and we are excited they will be on our campus as well!)
The Boosterthon Fun Run is interactive, community-based and promotes three lasting values: fitness, leadership and character. Students are challenged and encouraged to get 10 or more pledges for the laps they will complete on September 17th. In addition, all students get the opportunity to participate in this 9 day fun-filled program regardless of financial giving. Students will run/dance/skip/etc for 30 minutes and average 25-35 laps with a "lap cap" of 35. All students receive an All-Star T-Shirt and we invite all parents to come to the Boosterthon Fun Run and share this great event with them!
We ask you to help Suwanee Elementary in the following four ways:
1. Please help connect your child to potential sponsors and help them acquire pledges from family, friends and contacts.
2. Ask your child about the "Leader L.A.U.N.C.H" character trait they learn at school each day during the Boosterthon Fun Run program. Also, please visit www.funrun.com to see a quick video on the daily lesson.
3. Please come to the Boosterthon Fun Run on September 17th and don't forget to invite others to attend our fun community event.
4. Help us promote thankfulness in our community by encouraging students to tell their sponsors we are grateful for their support!

Suwanee Festival of Books - August 28 & 29, 2010, at the Suwanee Town Center Park
This two-day festival will focus on celebrating literacy as an art, bringing together authors, publishers, educators, booksellers and readers. A broad range of activities and events with appeal to people of all ages and interests will be available - ranging from author readings, book signings, writing workshops, drama performances, panel presentations, live music, children's activities, storytelling, and a Barnes & Noble Book Marketplace - all underscored with an emphasis on the importance of reading and writing! NGHS Softball Booster Club has North Gwinnett Bulldog women's and girl's flip flops for sale for $15 a pair. Each strap is black with white polka dots with the oval NG emblem on one strap and Bulldogs in red & white on the other. Great for all girls and moms who cheer on any NG team! Suwanee Elementary News
The Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center (GEHC) Foundation presented Dr. Kimberly Smith and Suwanee Elementary with a token of appreciation for Suwanee's participation in grade level field studies at GEHC during the 2009-2010 school year. The Center was recently featured in a beautiful, resource book that showcases "green" buildings from around the world. This book will make an excellent addition to our school library. Pictured below is Dr. Smith receiving the book from GEHC representatives.

JOIN US at a general PTA meeting at Curriculum Night this Thursday at 6:00 PM. Bring your checkbook Thursday night because we will be there selling PTA Memberships, Yearbooks, and Spiritwear. We are still running our special, when you purchase two memberships, you get the new Suwanee Elementary Paw Print magnet FREE.
YEARBOOKS will also be for sale on Curriculum Night. Remember October 1st is the last day for special pricing....$25 first sibling, $20 second sibling.....after October 1st, the book goes up to $30.
DID YOU KNOW that every Friday the faculty and students show their Suwanee Spirit by wearing spriritwear? Don't forget to buy spiritwear during each Curriculum Night. Join us for a Volunteer Round-up Breakfast, Tuesday August 31st @ 9 a.m. in the Jaguar Café.
Learn about all that the PTA does for your school and get involved. Also, all Room Parents are encouraged to attend this meeting to learn expectations for the school year. You will receive your how-to guide and Teacher's favorites list. |
