From the Principal's Desk

Thank you to everyone who shopped at our book fair last week. Our sales for last week totaled $16,384 which makes this fair the most profitable one since I have been at Suwanee Elementary. Twenty-five percent of this amount stays at our school and the school also earned 5% of this total in teacher and student incentives.

It was a busy week in the media center and we greatly appreciate everyone's patience and support.

Another huge thank you goes out to the parent volunteers who helped in so many ways to make this book fair so successful. We could not do this without them.

Curriculum & Instruction from the Assistant Principals

Mrs. Aguirre's first grade class honored America's Veterans on November 11th with a classroom performance for parents. Students wrote and recited a poem about Veterans. They also presented a short play that explained in detail who a veteran is and the role that they played in preserving our freedom. In addition, a powerpoint was presented that included student illustrations of the song, "America the Beautiful". This was sung by students. This was a example of a great application of first grade Social Studies curriculum.

The next partner event is at Olde Towne Tavern on Monday 11/16/09 from 5-8PM. The PTA will earn 15% from all proceeds of everyone from Suwanee Elementary that night (you'll need to identify that you are from Suwanee Elementary; orders using the Jaguar Card will not qualify for the event).

Lunch Notes from Mrs. Hill

Gwinnett County School Nutrition Program will be participating in the National Dairy Council's "Fuel up to Play 60".

During the month of November we will track our milk consumption. One school within each level(Elementary, Middle, and High) with the biggest increase in milk sales from October to November will receive Atlanta Falcon tickets for some of their students. TEST

The tickets are for the Falcons vs. the Saints game on Sunday December 13th at 1pm.
So, Got Milk, Get Milk and Drink milk from the Suwanee Cafe' to help our chances.
