 From the Principal's Desk
Dear Suwanee Families,

Parent -teacher conferences are fast approaching. Please make every effort to attend your child's conference. The research on parent involvement clearly demonstrates that students benefit greatly from adult participation. The more involved parents are in their children's learning, the greater the achievement in school. Our teachers have important information to share with you regarding your child's school performance.

November 4th is the last day to submit feedback about Suwanee's redistricting for school year 2010. If you would like to express your view regarding the proposed map, please complete the attached input form (Click Here) and return it to Barbara Coker in the front office by November 4th. For your convenience, a map outlining the proposed boundary lines is on display in our front lobby. The map is also posted on the GCPS website. A public hearing about the new school boundary lines is being held on November 19th, from 7:00-9:00 p.m., in the GCPS Boardroom (437 Old Peachtree Road NW, Suwanee, GA).

I want to thank everyone who came out to the Jaguar Jamboree last Friday.  It was a wonderful event that all enjoyed.  Thanks to the PTA, parents and all of the staff members who volunteered their time and talents to make this a successful event.

Warmly,

Dr. Kimberly Smith

Curriculum & Instruction from the Assistant Principals

In November, 2nd Grade Social Studies students will be participating in a hands-on curriculum unit that focuses on the culture of the American Indian. There will be an opportunity for students to make a squanto snack, practice basket weaving and beading. Students will study American Indian dress and make a headdress and vest. In addition, students will use Indian writing figures and have an opportunity to play some games that were enjoyed by Indian children. Our 2nd grade students are looking forward to this great learning opportunity.

It's Cooley's Pizza Night Tuesday, November 3rd! Suwanee Elementary gets a percentage of the days' proceeds.

at Skate Country in Buford.
Please join us for a fun evening of skating and Jaguar hunting!

Jaguar Jamboree was a great success! We had over 650 people in attendance and everyone loved the Cake Walk, Pie Throw, Center Stage, decorated pumpkins and the games and inflatables. We could not have done it without all of our wonderful volunteers!

We had amazing support from our teachers, staff and administration. Mrs. Thomas, Ms. Fico, Mrs. Burt, Mr. Hays and Mr. Singleton went above and beyond the call of duty by braving the pie throwing booth! The decorated pumpkins were great, thank you to all the teachers for working so hard on them. The custodians, Ms. Ronda and Ms. Dina, worked hard throughout the evening and late into the night and we had the best MC ever for Center Stage, thanks Mrs. Purcell!

Special thanks go to Marc Caputo with the Dad's Club, Jeanne Anderson who did the Cake Walk, Karen Deffler and her pie throwing, Meghan McNail with the pumpkins, Lisa Glynn at Center Stage and Lesley Poole, Suzie McGarvey, Nikki Costelloe, Diana Cooper & Amy Frantz who did a little bit of everything.

We also want to thank our vendors, Petey's All Around Town Ice Cream, Shane's Rib Shack, Petals Bakery, Brain Balance Achievement Center, Shirley McCarley with Mary Kay and Suwanee Karate for Kids.
