Parents,
I'm pleased to share with you that we are a few short months away from launching our Parent Portal. If you recall we shared a brief video about the Parent Portal during open house. The portal will allow you to look at your child's grades, attendance, discipline and testing history at your convenience. The information on the portal is confidential and each parent will need to register for a separate password. Please look for an informational letter regarding the Parent Portal that will be sent home in Friday Folders this week.
Suwanee office staff will be available to take your form and check your ID on Wednesday, November 11, from 8:30 to 3:30 and on Thursday, November 12, from 8:30 to 3:30. Our goal is to register everyone interested in accessing the Parent Portal by December 4, 2009. This would allow adequate time for you to receive your password prior to January when the portal becomes available.
Please contact the front office if you have any questions regarding the Parent Portal that we will launch in January, 2010.
We also need your help with our car rider line. Due to the increased number of car riders this year, we are asking parents that have questions, concerns, or comments they would like to share with staff members, to please park and come inside to speak with a front office staff member. This will help to move the car rider line in a more expedient manner. For this same reason, we will not be able to continue providing dog treats in the car rider line. We want to ensure that our sweet children are able to get to class on time. Thanks so much for your cooperation and support!
Suwanee Parents are the BEST!
Warmly,

4th Grade
Fourth grade students in Ms. LaJeunesse and Mrs. Lorenz's classes are practicing their research skills, as well as preparing to write an Informational Writing Piece by conducting research in the Media Center! They were able to choose 3 topics in which they were interested in, or considered themselves an expert on, and create a list of questions about each of those three topics. In the pictures below, you will see the students moving among 3 different research stations in the Media Center (online resources, nonfiction books and encyclopedias) in order to find information that would answer the questions they created. After they finish their research, they will spend time learning about the organization of not only an informational paragraph, but also a complete informational writing piece! We look forward to sharing our Informational Writing Pieces with you!
