Suwanee Elementary Chess Club Important Announcement
Due to the enormous turnout for Chess Club on Thursday, September 10th, the Suwanee Elementary Chess Club will now meet on both Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30-8:00 a.m. Your child will be assigned a day and classroom (Munson or Yougel) based on grade and/or skill level. In order to accommodate students in chorus, 4th & 5th grade students will be assigned to Thursdays.
The final cutoff to sign up for this program is Monday, September 14th. In order to avoid conflicts with siblings, we are assigning students to days based on their last name. We must have a completed form on file for your child to participate. See your child's teacher if you need an additional form. We are so excited that so many children want to advance their chess skills!
Thank you for your consideration and support.

Mrs. Burt's 3rd grade class worked in small groups to turn an ordinary melon into an extraordinary model of our world! They drew & labeled continents and oceans, latitude and longitude, and then cut the melon on the equator and prime meridian to review hemispheres. The students loved the lesson and the learning process! At the end of the lesson, they ate the world, and said it was delicious! |

The media center is thrilled to report that 121 students completed a summer reading bookmark! These students were able to pick a free book from our Scholastic Mini Book Fair thanks in part to the PTA. We appreciate the PTA helping us to sponsor this fabulous incentive to keep children reading. The students were thrilled to pick out a book that they were able to keep, and we were thrilled to reward reading with reading!
