Please join us for our Informational Session for English Language Learners and Families with Second Languages. We will cover school procedures, testing and various other important topics that effect our students. We will meet 10:00 -11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2nd in the Suwanee Staff Development room near the Front Office.

Suwanee Science Fair

Dear Parents,

Suwanee Elementary is excited to host our fifth annual Science Fair. Our objective is to involve students, kindergarten through fifth grade, in exploring the scientific method through hands-on discovery. Students are encouraged to select a project that requires experimentation and the use of scientific processes and critical thinking skills, such as, but not limited to:

What is the effect of fertilizer on plant growth?

How does moisture affect the growth of bread mold?

How do different substances absorb the sun's energy?

Projects will be displayed at the Math and Science Night on October 15, 2009. Students will be on hand to discuss what they have learned from their investigations. If you would like to have your child participate, please fill out the attached form to receive a packet. We hope you will encourage your child to participate in this special activity.                      Science Fair Entry Form

PTA Reflections Art Contest Coming to Suwanee Elementary
This nationally sponsored contest is open to all grade levels and encourages students to create an original piece of art in one of the following areas:
-- Dance & Choreography
-- Film Production
-- Literature
-- Photography
-- Musical Composition
-- Visual Arts
All works must incorporate the 2009-2010 theme "Beauty is . . . "
Deadline for entry is October 2, 2009. Entries that win at the local level are eligible to go on to higher levels and possibly the national contest.

We are still selling the Suwanee Jaguar Discount Card!
Pick up cards this week at Curriculum Night. Remember you can use the order form that went home in Friday folders (also available online at the PTA link of the school's website in the August edition of Pawprints).

Spiritwear will be sold at all three curriculum nights. We will have t-shirts (boys and girls - all sizes are available) for $12, water bottles for $4 and customized car window decals can be ordered.
 
Visit the PTA Link on the Suwanee Elementary website to view the 2009-2010 proposed PTA Budget. During our PTA meeting on Curriculum night, we will be voting to pass the proposed budget.
