Dear Friend,

Do you like birthdays?  Now that I'm in my fiftieth year and soon to be fifty-one, I find it increasingly difficult to know how to respond to the annual question from family and friends, "So... what do you want for your birthday... this year?"

Frankly, I'm quite content with all the "stuff" I now have.  I don't need or want a thing in terms of creature comforts.  I am increasingly burdened, however, on behalf of those who are in desperate need of the Lord's provision, through people like me and you.

Let me explain.

In lieu of the shirt or tie or gift card to the coffee shop or shopping mall, may I share with you, my Life Centers family and friends, my birthday "wish list" for this year?  My gift idea - for me :) - is so simple that it will save you the stress of fretting over, "What do I get Brian this year?"

All I want for my birthday is for Life Centers to be fully funded for proclaiming the Gospel and protecting the unborn.

If everyone receiving this email would donate $50 today (as I just did before sending this email, for my birthday gift to me), Life Centers' budget shortfall would be erased, all outstanding bills would be paid, payroll would be met, and Life Centers would immediately bounce back from the summer slump just in time for the upcoming "Walk and Run for Life" fundraiser on Sept. 17 and 25 (click here for more information about how to register and raise money for saving lives and winning souls).

So, if you are in angst wondering what to get me for my birthday, a gift of $50 to Life Centers is what I'd recommend.  In fact, why not add to my birthday gift the dollar amount equal to your birthday number this year, and let's celebrate your day of birth, too!

I'll let you know how many birthday blessings I've received on behalf of thousands of lives in central Indiana who, without your birthday gift and mine, may not experience a day of birth or the new birth in knowing the Lord Jesus Christ.

Just think what I'll be asking for when I turn 75!

Yours for bold birthday blessings on behalf of the unborn,

 Brian's Sig

A Way for Noah
Noah writing

Noah grips the large piece of chalk and focuses intently on the words inches from his face.

"Mmmmat! Cat! Bat!" His small voice punctuates the quiet daycare schoolroom as he pauses between writing words. He wipes away the first letter of the last word and deposits chalk dust on his nose.

Noah, who recently turned three years old, is fascinated by words and books. Observing how advanced Noah is for his age, it is not difficult for his mother Shrhonda to imagine that Noah has a bright future.

But she vividly recalls how differently she felt three years ago when she found out she was pregnant.

"I was going through a tough time, and I was considering abortion. I was lost, I was homeless, and I was living out of my car during the wintertime," she says. "I had called and made an appointment with Planned Parenthood. Somehow I kept missing the appointments, and on one occasion, someone broke into my car and stole the 300 or so dollars I had saved up for the abortion."

Shrhonda found an ad for Life Centers in the phone book and called to ask if they could accommodate her before the abortion appointment she had scheduled for that morning.

"They called the ultrasound technician early. They opened up early just for me," she says.

The Life Centers peer counselor educated Shrhonda on the abortion procedure and explained all of her options. She asked Shrhonda why she was considering abortion. Shrhonda said she did not have the resoures to raise a child or even a place to stay.

The peer counselor assured Shrhonda that Life Centers would help her find the resources she needed to get her back on her feet. Shrhonda says she'll never forget the most important part of the conversation.

"I remember [the peer counselor] said, 'Well, what if there was a cure for cancer, and your son had the answer for that?' And I said, 'Oh, he would be like a little life-saver! And I said, 'I'm going to have him, because there could be a lot of things that could come out of this. He could help save someone else.'"

"I know the Lord has a way for Noah, and I'm trusting he will hear it," Shrhonda says. "That one decision to keep my son changed my life forever. And I'm thankful for that."
