Jenny's Story*
"I, myself, am adopted. Doctors had told my birth mom that she should have an abortion. I'm so glad she didn't listen to them.
"My adoptive dad is a pastor, so getting pregnant as an unmarried 19-year-old was definitely not in my plans. I was at rock bottom. I thought, 'There is no way I'll climb out of this one.' I had rebelled, and my parents told me they didn't like my choices, but they would support me.
"My mom wanted to confirm that I was pregnant, and she wanted me to talk to a peer counselor at Life Centers, where I met Laura. I didn't feel like I was talking to a stranger. . . I felt like I knew her.
"I found out that I was six weeks pregnant. They did an ultrasound. When I saw that peanut on the ultrasound screen, I started to cry.
"I was shocked that at that early on you could hear the heartbeat. That's a life.
"Talking with Laura opened up my mind and helped me to talk with my parents. Before I went into the center, I did not have a relationship with Jesus.
"Now I'm involved at church, and my daughter is 11 months old. She is such a blessing. It was a hard pregnancy for nine months, but it's so worth it. I would call Laura throughout my pregnancy. Now instead of digging a hole, I'm building stair steps. I'm so thankful for Life Centers, and I want to help other people."
