December is a month in which we are all focused on our children, families,
and friends, and we hope that you enjoy a most wonderful holiday
season with them. In order to begin to think about your plans for the new
year, however, please take a moment to look in this newsletter at some of
the interesting professional development opportunities planned for the first
half of 2011.
Please note that the NAREA office will be closed on December 20th and will reopen on January 3rd.

The Second NAREA Winter Conference "Building Learning Through Documentation and Community"
Miami, Florida February 26-27, 2011
In collaboration with Reggio Children and L'Atelier
- Presentations by Amelia Gambetti and Lella Gandini
- Presentations by L'Atelier educators and Project Infinity educators from Georgia and South Carolina
- Visit to L'Atelier, a school in dialogue with Reggio Children for 10 years
- Participation of Florida Reggio Collaborative educators
The conference will begin on Saturday morning, February 26 and end mid-day on Sunday, February 27, 2011. The registration fee is $185 (10% discount for NAREA members).

"The Wonder of Learning - The Hundred Languages of Children" A New Exhibit from Reggio Emilia, Italy - North American Version
 in collaboration with 
January 21 - May 21, 2011 Ohio Technical College and The Ohio State University at Newark Newark, Ohio Hosted by Ohio Voices for Learning
A series of professional development initiatives will be organized in connection with the presence of the exhibit in Newark, including:
January 21-22, 2011: Making Learning Visible: Advocacy in Collaboration with Children, Educators and Families February 26, 2011: Making Learning Visible: Relationships are Influential March 26, 2011: Making Learning Visible: Engaging Environments Matter April 28-30, 2011: Early Care and Education Conference (including tour of "The Wonder of Learning" Exhibit)
May 20-21, 2011: Making Learning Visible (with the participation of two representatives from Reggio Emilia, Italy) The Language of Art in Schools and Communities (supported by Columbus Museum of Art)
June - November 2011 The National Steinbeck Center Salinas, California Hosted by First 5 Monterey County and other community partners A series of professional development initiatives will be organized in connection with the presence of the exhibit in Monterey County, including:
June 16-18, 2011: The Seventh NAREA Summer Conference In collaboration with Reggio Children, First 5 Monterey County and Central Coast Association for the Education of Young Children With the participation of two representatives from Reggio Emilia, Italy For more information, log onto the Summer Conference - Current page of the NAREA website.
The "Wonder of Learning - The Hundred Languages of Children" exhibit will be present through a rotation of the following host communities, approximately six months at a time:
