A Word From the President - Craig Faust

Craig Faust

Dear Chamber Members,

2010 has been an exciting and challenging year at the Chamber.  We have learned, like our business members, to be resilient through these tough economic times. The Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce continues to strive to enhance the business environment and the quality of life in our area for the benefit of our members and our community.

We want to keep on doing all we can to support and promote our member businesses by offering programs and services to help them prosper.  Your input is very important to us in order to meet these needs.

The Chamber staff, the Board of Directors, our committees and our volunteers work to ensure that we meet your expectations. These people, your business neighbors and friends, assist the Burlington Chamber by strengthening the Chamber's relationship with business members, non-member businesses and the communities in and around our region.

If you have not been involved in your Chamber lately, please do so now.  It is more important than ever before.  If you attend one or more of our Legislative Breakfast sessions, Business After Hours, Networking at Noon, Speed Networking, participate in one of our educational seminars, attend our annual dinner and auction, participate in the annual golf outing, or many other offerings, you are benefiting from the Chamber's opportunities to network and grow.  Working together, we will continue to build an environment where your business and our community can flourish.

Thank you for your membership and your belief in the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce.

Consider the Benefits of Corporate Partnership
The policy of the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce, to maintain the dues schedule at a level whereby businesses of all sizes can afford the benefits of membership, has been made possible only through the generosity of the participating Corporate Partners. Since 1997, the Corporate Partnership Program has provided the additional supplementary budget funding for upgrading the office technology, development of a more meaningful program of work, and expansion of annual planned projects and events. To find out how your business can benefit, contact Jan Ludtke, 262-763-6044.
Schuette Daniels Furniture Corporate Partner Write-Up

This year Schuette-Daniels is celebrating its 80th year of service to the Burlington community.  The business was initially founded in 1929 by John F. Schuette of Milwaukee when he purchased the original furniture store located at 597 N. Pine Street.

It wasn't until two years later that Mr. Schuette purchased the Kerkman residence at 157 S. Pine Street and converted it to the funeral home.  In 1948 Rich Daniels joined the firm and in 1954, along with Marvin Werth, became shareholders in the business when it was incorporated.  Rich and Doris Daniels purchased the remaining shares of the business in 1975.   In 2007 the tradition continued with Matthew and Donna Daniels purchasing the majority shares of the business from Rich and Doris Daniels.   In 1979, after 50 years at its previous location, the decision was made to expand the business and move the furniture store two blocks south to its current location at 425 N. Pine Street.  To accommodate the growing funeral business, a new funeral facility was completed in 1991 at 625 Browns Lake Drive.  Two year later the Polnasek Funeral Home was purchased in Union Grove.  And in 1995, the McCarthy Koenig Funeral Home was purchased.

For eight decades Schuette-Daniels Furniture Store has earned a reputation for providing the Burlington community with quality merchandise and outstanding customer service.  The supportive and caring staff at Daniels Family Funeral Homes handle all types of arrangements with integrity at the time of need.

Since 1975 many of the Daniels children have also joined the staff of the organization. Presently, Mitchell Daniels son, Craig Hancock, son-in-law, Kari Daniels, daughter-in-law and third generation Eric Daniels are all involved in the corporation.

The family's intentions for the future are to continue the legacy of providing the Burlington area with the unfailing satisfaction for which this family owned and operated business is known.
