Presidents Report

Ron Campbell, AIARonald Campbell, AIA
2009 AIAMI President

We never know what the future holds.  Even in the short term things can change quickly; what looks like a sure thing vanishes overnight.  Few imagined the rapid collapse of the economy, and a Presidential campaign whose focus and most important issue turned from the war to the economy.  It is the economy that's dominates the news and has transcended to nearly every aspect of our lives today.  And why shouldn't it?  Outside forces always affect our business and ultimately our lives. Forces that we have little control over; how do you find work to stay in business? What can you do if you are laid off?  Does anybody hear?  Does anybody care?  The answer is YES.

AIA/Michigan knows and shares your concerns.  Just like you we are practicing architects trying to make a living doing what we enjoy and have a passion for.  We volunteer our time, taking from our work and family time, to try and better our profession and ourselves in the process.  This year's Leadership Retreat, held in Acme, MI, had representation from every chapter in the state - a first in my recollection.  I had a chance to talk and listen from many that were there, it was a wonderful experience. ..
