JAMS Tip of the Month |
Every month, our support team combs through help desk tickets and looks for valuable information to share with our entire user community. If we select a question from you, we will send you an MVP polo shirt.
This month's question comes from Paul at PNC Bank. Paul asks "Can JAMS send job information to SCOM?"
JAMS can in fact send very detailed job information to SCOM. JAMS can notify SCOM Users about the job having an issue and exactly what state the job is in, from COMPLETED, FAILED, SHORT, RUNAWAY, STALLED or MISSED_WINDOW.

Leading Bank Cuts Processing Time by 50% |
The Business Intelligence and Analytics (BIA) division of this leading retail bank produces critical business reports and other tools for more than four thousand people working in the retail branch offices, including senior executives. The business critical data is time sensitive and requires processing over 350 jobs to extract, transform, and load data each day.
The challenge was to have a centralized scheduling solution where BIA could monitor jobs, analyze the performance of jobs, and easily change jobs giving the business the ability to rapidly change with minimal risk. High availability and reliability were critical to the BIA's success.
Before implementing JAMS, BIA handled scheduling with standard scripting tools in addition to basic SQL jobs. As the business grew this became cumbersome because of the intense business complexity and large amount of jobs and high level uptime requirements. While internally developed tools worked reasonably well, BIA had many small issues that constantly required monitoring.
"With JAMS, we are no longer working in the dark," states the VP of BIA at the bank. "All of our jobs are easily monitored, and the history is easy to view. We even integrated the JAMS web platform into our centralized 24/7 monitoring and support platform. This product saves us time, allows for a higher uptime, and allows us to complete our processing in almost half the time."
